Same as regular ambush chance, depends on terrain. i.e. it becomes incredibly hard to ambush attack someone in the open.

How does this work with the stalking stance for Skaven and The Beastmen default ambush stance?

Reduced based desert ambush chance from 60 to 20%, gave tomb kings 50% ambush success chance in home territory when in desert climate, and multiple buildings can increase it more, such as growth chain, defence chains, tomb scorpion chain and bone giant chain.

Have to also consider many races get considerable ambush boosts naturally, and many of the terrains youre discussing already have very high base rates of success, compared to desert terrain especially which really only helps tomb kings

I would stick to the factions natural habitat according to the map ie where they are most concentrated. Skaven/mountains or near ruins, Wood Elves forest etc... This will be painful though because it would have to be done on a per faction basis...The terrain that say....Katarin is familiar with will be much different than the terrain Baba Ostanyka uses.

Youre right, tomb kings should probably have more ambush chance in desert regions, ill add it, are there any others you feel that should have extra ambush chance in a specific terrain? I can add it in pretty easily, but only in friendly regions, and perhaps adjacent to friendly regions.

Hmm....Yeah, this concept doesnt really work in an extremely magic heavy scenario. And im sure its not based on the faction youre playing, otherwise tomb kings would always get a 100+ chance to ambush anywhere there is soft earth/sand.

thanks, it's all i need to know, i can use this mod with other mod that i add stalk stance to others factions and races (markus, oxyotl, skarsnik, ostankya and wood elves)

I think going over 100% does matter if the enemy has a reduced chance to be ambushed. For example, I think if you have a 120% chance to ambush but the enemy has 45% against ambushes, then you end up with a 75% chance to ambush.

True, but it will always make it easier to ambush in unfavourable terrain, and will counteract enemy ambush defence skills.

Understood. I wonder, does ambush success chance cap at 100% ? Making modifiers useless if you already have 100% base chance ?

Thats just how the game works, it only shows the base chance, without modifiers.

Hey Cerb, from my testing I managed to successfully ambush enemy armies with 0% success chance. I don't know if this is intended.

Yeah sadly there a few areas that are 'grassland' despite having some reasonable tree coverage, but its shard with areas that have no tree coverage :( you can just hover over an area to work out your base chance however.

Neat idea but testing it out as Mazdamundi, there's areas around Hexoatl that absolutely should give ambush chance that don't. Shame really.

I've made a mod to make my game fit in better with your mod and one other mod that effects the encamp stance and figured it might be of interest to some of your users: Encampment Ambush Defense Nerf .

I guess people in the desert or jungle would be kind of screwed, but I didn't like ambushes being negated in open terrain even if you have a skill + say reaver patrol commandment active to boost your chances.

Desert has high ambush chances, historically the desert is quite an easy place to ambush enemies, as shown as recently as WW2. It's treated essentially like hills, so it actually has higher ambush chance than base.
