Does the new upload work with the 4.0 update?
get it there but i cant get any portraits to actually show up

Overwritten category entries can be easier compiled to a compatibility patch, that will now be required if multiple portrait mods add stuff to the same category. Unfortunately we don't have the modular option anymore.

In any case reworking your mod to the new method of adding portraits will avert any future issues coming with out of date overwrites.
After looking into your files I noticed that you overwrite basegame files to add your portraits to the vanilla species classes. This is the likely cause of the crash and not necessary anymore.
Since 3.8 you can add portraits to an existing species class using a separate file without the need to touch the original file. If you have any questions, I've sent you an invite.
