i realised when making engine systems, small hydro tanks are more versatile and act as armouring if hit from the side of the ship, and the ship still functions after being hit.
same concept with small batterys i was putting them as armouring layers internally they have there benefits;
they are a fuel source, that's spread out and harder to kill overall and protect other vital systems.
does it still function good with ions alone ?, if you get what i mean, like make the space performance better overall when regarding ion based performance minus the hydrogen, so you can still be a scary fighter in one field that being space over planets if hydrogen depletes breaking atmosphere or something :)
still a fast fighter overall would be more of an interceptor style build, it serves a purpose.
if you consider cost to effectiveness its OK, its fuel capacity makes it less likely to be deployed long distances for it will run out of fuel quite fast in a planetary scenario its hydrogen reliant, it might have enough fuel to break atmosphere, but will be quiet useless after the hydrogen is depleted.
