I figured out the issue, I was packing the wrong folder

Maybe your steps were wrong. This module only modified some files of the original module. After unpacking the original module, replace the files after the unpacking of this module to the original module, and then repackage the original module.

I tried to extract, follow all your instructions and then turn back into a VPK and it says its not a valid source engine?

模组不包含材质文件，不能单独使用，需整合到原模组中或者去除原模组中相同的文件。如果不介意冲突的话也可以不做操作试试是否成功修改。

也可以试试 steam --> 设置 --> 下载 --> 清除下载缓存。清除下载缓存能够解决多数因缓存导致的显示错误，如左手持枪等。
