How does it work i type in the act_dance and i have xdr and it does not work

Updated the description, so i did some investigations and found out that Dynabase can work with this addon. So i recommend using wOS dynabase.

I also found out that wOS code version and the xdReanims if you're not using dynabase, apparantly it rendered the animation not working bacuse of the new january 2024 update. so I REALLY recommend to use wOS dynabase

I'm unsure if any addons are causing the issue, and I'm also using the x64 x86 branch as well. So it could just be an addon problem.

Also to add, my game is up to date (i play on x64 x86 branch), so the latest game updates hasn't messed up the addon yet

the addon still works for me though, either you have installed the full base version of wOS (in which it the animation not working) or you have both the wOS base code and wOS full ver. installed (in which case you have to unsub to the wOS full ver.)

If its none of those addons, there are 2 things i can suspect:
1. you have dynabase [wOS] version installed. although i have not yet checked if it really actually works with xDR animations
2. Some other addon is conflicting with it (mainly animation type addons)

I have over 2000+ addons installed in my game (even with a few wOS & xDR addons installed), none of these have messed up this addon. So... I dunno

I have all required addons installed, none of the incompatible addons, and tried using "act dance" but it still plays the original dance animation.

You can bind dance to whatever key that you want

Example:
type in the console (you can bring console up by pausing the ingame or in main menu and pressing ` )

and type: bind p "act dance"

then just press p so you can dance

what key to dance?

You can try and use the "model manipulator" and copy the ragdoll of a playermodel and paste it on an NPC, and use the "Easy animation tool" and make them dance, but it takes away most of their of NPC features, because "NPC not thinking" should be on, and also not to mention they t pose after.

The dance only applies to "playermodels" (only used by players) . Addons with Bots (like lambda players or zeta bots) uses playermodels, which means they can do the dance though. But an NPC is an NPC and they do NPC things, so no, unless there is an addon that forces them to dance, then it could be possible.

In my case, the addon works completely fine for me with xdR, (wos) custom taunt , Gmod action, and vmanips, altogether

You either have these conflicting addons that makes this addon not work:

1. [Wos] Animation base (full version) --> (you can fix this by unsubscribing and switch over to the CODE ver. of the Wos animation base) (also don't forget the xdR reanims base subscribed)

2. Custom taunt -> (the original version of custom taunt renders the animation not working) --> (you can fix this by switching over to the Wos version of the custom taunt, but even so, you will have a hard triggering the dance because there are so many dances in the custom taunt addon.)

3. Unknown addons (Sorry i can't really help you with this one, you either take the time to find out which addon causes the problem, or pretty much take out all the animation addons that you currently have, and test which addon cause the problem, or you either have an addon that really replaces the Gmod (original) default dance one.)

There is no music included in the dance, sorry.. (I don't have any idea how to put one, plus it would be a bit annoying "for me" if the music plays over and over again, as it can be spammed by other players xd) You can just go play the music either via music player (Youtube or mp3s), or any addons that supports music players in-game. I would recommend using the Zeta Players addon as it has a music player in it, but you need to watch a tutorial on how you can import your music in-game.

Also I have Custom Taunt enabled, I only was able to trigger the california girls dance twice. So yeah, the chances of triggering the dance is low because of the lots of animation in the custom taunt addon

Well apparently, if you have the custom taunt addon installed, there is little chance for it trigger since the act dance is randomized, and there are about a 50+ animations in act dance from the custom taunt addon. Unfortunately, there is no specific command to trigger the "replaced" original dance, since this addon specifically only replaces the OG Gmod Act dance (I've tried looking for that specific command, but no luck so far). So if you want to ONLY dance the california girls dance, you have to sacrifice/unsubscribe the "Custom Taunt" Addon, or other animation addons that replaces the "act dance" animation. Or you can keep the custom taunt addon but you're gonna have a hard time triggering the dance since Custom Taunt randomizes the animations. But if you're not subscribed to the Custom Taunt addon, then maybe some other animation addons are in conflict with it.
