You have to handle individual preference creation (It's not fun when you have an excessive number of it). Even if you make it a class (I did) to modularize it so it's easier to loop over and register, the user experience trying to navigate a large number of preferences is not great. 10/10 would not recommend using the mod preferences since it limits the scalability.
What you could consider, although less cute XDD, is using a popup window similar to EnhancementMod or KitchenDesigner. It is abit more involved, and less integrated into the game's aesthetics, but I propose that it is the more scalable option given the ever increasing number of appliances. Done well, it could even allow for renaming appliances added by future mods automatically.
