Hijacking MugenDraco's fix, but see below:

Go to steamapps > workshop > content > 976730 > 2903354457 and edit ModInfo.json with a text editor. Under the "MaxAppVersion" section, change "Minor" from 3385 to 3528, the current version. Save it and you're good to go.

aadzo41's link is indeed a good workaround. If you have trouble with YouTube like I do sometimes, here's a quick text version.

Works great, only problem is using anything other than "Sprint" put the camera immediately behind the spartan, making aiming impossible. Other than that it works great. Might just be something on my end.
