Lavish: - Stuffed, - Candied, - Mulled

For the Prefixed foods, something like "Lobster, Stuffed" could possibly work.

Instead of "slices" you could go with "Portions" as an easy meal.

Ah, that is probably because I removed the burger name and updating it in a world with the old version would make errors. I should have changed the compatible versions so it doesn't try to update on existing worlds

For now just don't update it until you're doing a new world

Slices might not work well with alcohol-derived food tho ("Dwarven wine slices")

That said, add "mash" to the fine level. That's a good one!

Any chance we could get this a bit less anachronistic? I'd like to use this, but I really don't want to see "sliders" or "casserole". Maybe:

Easy: Biscuit, gruel, tack, brine, jerky, curdle
Fine: Stew, broth, porridge, chowder, boil, loaf, pickles
Lavish: Roast, soup, chowder, fry, dumpling, preserves, pudding, pie, tart, pastry, sausage, bake

For some reason I thought macaques were considered "sentient" and unable to be butchered by dwarves, but apparently that's not the case. Go ahead and eat them lol

Puggy, the fish ingredient is male. Fish in DF have male and female in the name even after they're cooked and everything

I second pastries, preserve, and pottage, adding gruel and mush, sauté/simmer/sizzle, as well as melt

tacos, perhaps
fritters and pastries in the lavish section
pickle and preserve in the easy section
pottage in easy or fine
quiche
pasties, empanadas, samosas, dumplings, calzone, pirozhki, pierogi, basically all those names for foods that involve wrapping some mixture in dough and baking or frying it

Yeah, it seems like a super simple mod, but a great idea all the same. I definitely recommend this one! I'm a big fan of little, simple mods.

You can pretty much open up my mod files after downloading and just add your own names in the text file, it's stupid easy to figure out even if you haven't done it before

Yeah, these kind of mods are so irrelevant for gameplay that everyone is gonna have a different opinion on how much they like it. I try to avoid adding too much stuff with a single mod so people aren't stuck with things they don't like (if they don't want to mod it out themselves)

This is pretty much inspired by a much older mod for ascii DF that had many many more names, but I didn't like the huge amount it had, especially since some of the names were immersion breaking for me. I just wrote this one up from scratch for my own personal games before the new DF came out on Steam and I've decided to work on uploading some of my stuff for other people

I'd still like "lettuce mash with gravy," but I see your point. If you don't add it, I know how to add it to my files manually, so I will probably just do that. Still, great stuff! Can't wait for the dumplings!

Thanks for the comments, guys. I like "dumplings", that sounds very dwarven. I believe "stew" and "roast" are already in the game (the default names for fine and lavish meals). "Mash with gravy" can get a little weird with things like lettuce and cheese, but it's good to try names with more than 1 word.

I'll probably add "dumplings" to the next update (soon) once I finish getting a thumbnail working and have another name or two that I want to add with it

Not only are lavish meals seen more, but it also makes sense that more challenging and skillful cooking would have more variety.

Possible name ideas:
"Mash with gravy" (pork mash with gravy, vegetable mash with gravy, plump helmet mash with gravy... You gotta have gravy!)
Stew
Roll (like a maki roll or like a bread roll, both work)
Wrap
Roast
Curry?
Dumplings
Kebabs

Is it possible to put words before the ingredients? Like "braised plump helmets" or "fried chicken"?
