Sentient corpses (of semi-sapients, invaders, visitors) won't be targeted, because they can't be without a DFhack script supplied to turn all flags related to that game-rule off in the background meaning they can be consumed and bodyparts used in reactions. Its different in 50. to 47.05

Best to use this to clean up animal bodies that are rotting, leftover bits from the butcher (refuse stockpiles of bodies can be linked directly into butchers, and have meat/refuse split on their way out) and random corpse parts like teeth that would be dumped into lava/bridge compactor anyway.

This mod worked really well at first with its own stockpile, but unfortunately no longer does. Once I got invaded by goblins, it wouldn't burn goblin corpses or anything other than the occasional five vermin or yak skeletons. If I try it without the stockpile, it starts burning mussel shells when I select corpses.

Tried to open a save file and for a fatal error that the broms_clean_corpsedust_template is missing

@armitron2 I took a look at that mod and it doesn't appear to conflict with this one. Sorry I can't be much more help other than that at the moment.

@Broms , I have tried deleting the stockpile, then creating a new "refuse" stockpile and setting it as the stockpile the smelter will pull from, but it still won't let me create a task to burn enemy corpses or missing limbs

@Armitron2 , The "corpses" stockpile is for friendly/fort members. The burn body part/corpses only works on the "refuse" stockpile items for enemies.

I have a refuse pile for specifically "corpses" and "body parts", and it is full of elf corpses and their missing limbs and teeth, but when I tell the smelter to pull from the specific refuse pile, it says there aren't any corpses or missing limbs available. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Using the workaround and just making sure shells aren't stocked in the designated stockpile solved the problem, but still, weird.

Uh... I'm not sure this is working as intended for me. The only thing they seem to be burning is mussel shells, not matter which of the 3 tasks I set. I have a bunch of goblin corpses and stuff just lying around, and bodyparts all over the fortress, but I see the worker just bringing mussel shell after mussel shell to the smelter when the "burn enemy corpses" or "burn enemy body parts" tasks are active.

@TwoSock that kind of stuff is unfortunately not possible with the way the game is coded today, cool idea though. @TheFirstFoxx this mod's reaction only works for non-citizen corpses, so no gameplay interaction with ghosts is changed. You'll still need to make any necessary slabs just the same as if you did not use this mod.

Great stuff, thank you! I was thinking; this would be a nice way to also tick off those tree hugging elves: From all the pollution of the fumes! I just used to make use of an atom smasher, though it's been so long since I played that I'm not sure that's still a thing.

It would have been simple enough to just make it possible to burn stuff. I really like that you went the extra mile to make it enjoyable for the dwarves. Great job!

Hmm yeah the game must be considering wool to be "body parts" in the code. If so then I can't do anything about that. My suggestion is to have a refuse -> corpse or body parts stockpile and set that to feed a specific furnace for waste duties so that you aren't burning wool/etc that you may want to keep.

Setting to burn enemy corpses and they were hauling wool Ive collected from animals to burn, looks like a bug.

Hi @PaulLovesToLaugh, this mod requires a new world to be created. Make sure you've selected the mod in the world gen options and that it loads after vanilla_reactions. Please post back here if you have other problems.

I've installed the mod and built the smelter but I don't see any options to burn waste.

I tested it. Works! However, in the Standing Orders menu, the "Automate Smelter" button isn't placed where you'd expect it to be. This is just an aesthetics problem, as everything seems to function just fine, and the button that's created does work, as long as you don't care that in this one menu it looks a little funny.

FYI you could also make burning of ANY wooden furniture and logs with this:

Updated preview.png & adjusted Burn Vermin Remains to required five vermin instead of one.

@Naesh I made this mod for my own use so I won't be published a different version. Feel free to modify it for your own use though. Simply go into the inorganic_broms_clean.txt file and delete the section starting with [SYNDROME] and everything after that.
