If you want a mod similar to this one on the Enhanced Edition then I would highly recommend the Epic Encounters Mod. It is the mod I used to play the Enhanced Edition.

@Brown: Yes, the last official Divinity Original Sin patch was on January.
The last Source difficulty mod patch was onFebruary.

@M3m3z: Press C (I think) to view your character sheet (the one that shows your stats and lets you assign points on level up). Then hover over Vitality. If it says you have a +60% or +15% buff or -20% debuff then the mod is not working.

Click this link. The "Effects on Players" part is disabled for this mod. So if it is there on your game then the mod isn't working.

This mod is making my and my friends game ALOT more enjoyable. Vanilla "hard" was way too easy for us. Now we actually have to use our brain sometimes. Thank you very much :)

I download this mods and few others 1 it from the workshop and the other 3 are from nexus I want to know if this mods are compatible with Source difficulty mods.

So there's absolutely no way this mod will work on a current save file at all? On the nexus page it said
"The mod requires starting a new game for ALL the features to work." but on here it says it requires a new game, period...:(

If anyones tried it with a current save file please let me know...all features dont have to work, just a few diffuculty tweaks here and there would be cool.

That's a shame if so. I didn't know how easy the fights can get once your a couple of levels in, and i dont wanna restart at this halfway point :/

Regarding getting the mod to work, and being able to play with the values,

Look for LS Tools, someone put the latest version on Larian.com forums.

1. Subscribe to the mod on steam, it should go in your My Documents\Larian studios folder (I don't know where on the mac). 2. Unpack the mod using LS Tools. 3. Delete the packed version and copy the unpacked folders (Mods and public) to the Data folder in Steam. 4. Open game, turn off mods, click activate, restart game, put Source Difficulty at the top, select desired mods and click activate. If this is your first time using the mod, a new game is necessary.

I've been following step 4, everytime I make tweaks to Characters.txt, I'm unsure if it's necessary, I haven't tested without as of yet and I'm pretty happy with the my boosted characters vs. boosted enemies, considering Act 1 feels like mid game, especially with Boss Loot mod, I'm unsure what mid game is going to be like.

I tweaked it a bit to suit my play style, I like more AP for both myself and enemies, and 450% more vitality for enemies. Though I'm not sure, I think maybe it's affecting the elemental shields cast on my characters.

Those shields are OP, I'd like to nerf them to only provide 20% of my characters max HP instead off 100%. (This is assuming they're not currently providing 100% max hp + 450% due to the shield being treated like an Enemy NPC and given a boost.)

Is there's a spell.txt file that can be incorporated in which I could mess around with the values?

I can't get this to work on the Mac. I dropped the folder in the mods folder and the game doesn;t seem to recogniaze it when I click "mods" in game.

Sooooo....is the point of this to make the game harder by getting rid of the ability to control the battlefield? I find that I have gotten to the point where I don't even bother trying to apply status effects because they never work and I would be better off just attacking. Am I missing something?

@Wizard: I originally planned on decreasing status effect length and/or increasing the cooldown time on certain spells, but it lead to some bugs for some players (on a previous version of the mod).

I couldn't figure out a way to alter the AI for the NPCs. Although I think I know how to make certain enemies pay more attention to or ignore stuff on the ground, but it wouldn't be tied to their health or the player's health so they just suicide run through burning oil fields etc.

Great work! But I think what I want more is:

Nerf status effect by, say, decreasing the effects by one turn. +willpower and bodybuilding for NPCs is not going to make the game harder, it just makes save&load more painful.

Better decision-making. That green leaf lady keeps fortifying my archer and cursing those immune to curse. And more often than not NPCs won't cross the burning oil field to instantly rekt my weak ass party.

Version 1.12 released. The changelog has all the info.

@Smitty: Hmm I would say easy mode with the mod is twice as hard as the default game on hard. Compared to the rest of the enemies in the game I greatly buffed the enemies on the first few fights before entering the first city as sort of an "entry barrier". If players find those fights too difficult then the mod may not be for them.

@Endarire: There are many great mods that I would have liked to implement with mine, but it would require far too much time and some people may not like those changes. I didn't read all of your suggestions in detail, but I liked some of the changes you suggested like the Ai personality one and the numbering of things on the character creation screen.

Hey guys, I don't know for sure if the mod is compatible with the current patch.

However I think the mod is compatible with the patch, although the mod will prevent some changes caused by the patch.

If you are have problems or if the game is still running smoothly let everyone know here in the comments section.

Also we have some Good news and some Bad news.

The Good news is I found the most important dev files.

The Bad news is I can't work on the mod until a new version of "LS Tools" is released so I can extract the main.pak.

@Endarire: Thanks and yeah that's pretty much where I found it lol.

@Everyone that made suggestions: Sadly increasing the difficulty on bosses and the second half of the game would require hours of work because some NPCs share certain stats with each other. (Also for every official patch released I have to manually go through every enemy and make changes because some things get shifted around or renamed)
Also I will also nerf archers levels 1-9 next patch.

Hey guys, just letting you know that I will release patch version 1.12 eventually. Maybe 2-3 weeks? I lost all the dev mod files when my hard drive died so it will take a while.

I think the mod is still compatible with the current patch, but it prevents some changes caused by the patch to occur.

so I've been busy so I haven't had any time to check comments etc, but I will try to answer some here maybe later today?

You didn't mention the worst part of bosses El_Bastardo. They can all be "cc"-ed. Stunned, petrified, frozen etc. I cannot even begin to imagine why a creator of a game would not have made at least its boss fights interesting by "minimally" making all of them immune to those effects. But even then, any difficulty mod should strive immediatly to correct this if it respects itself.

PS : Game was patched today. With a major changes patch. Any chance we can get a heads-up of what to do to keep this compatible and continue our game? I'm playing hard with the decreased hp optional option.

Bosses still are far too weak. Anyone with a lvl 7 mage-oriented char can solo every boss in chapter one -,-

I'm now lvl14 going to the luculla mines & every battle feels as if a 3year old could win it without even a drop of sweat. Glass Cannon is one of the culprits, makes things too easy. But only one of them. The issues are too many to address & they have roots in overall combat design and how powerful some talents/abilities are. Not the mod's fault. Most modern rpgs suffer from this same issue. Lategame easiness. Even dragon age, wasteland & other classics too. The only high level expansion rpg which had solved this issue and should be an inspiration to all for challenging endgame combat, was Throne of Bhaal. I truly hope Lords of Xulima & Pillars of Eternity will be harder than this. I'm tired of rpgs which get way too easy after getting some levels.

Hard mode of this mod needs at least a 50% damage increase for all enemies minimum. It would at least keep us a "little" on our toes for the 2nd half of the game, which is now a cakewalk or just add a "harder" difficulty for some of us.

After getting more powerful spells, some legendary stuff from chests and merchants, and especially after the first Act, Luculla was a breeze afterwards. It became so easy it was shocking. I believe it's a design error of the game itself and not the mod though. The game gets RIDICULOUSLY easy in Luculla. I can't even begin to describe how easy... I had to instantly up the difficulty to hard of this mod at that point, to make it playable, but truth is, once you get the great spells, some good equipment, resistances and good weapons especially on your fighters/rangers, the game is as easy as pie. 50% hp increase to enemies does not cut it at all sadly. If something is easy, it won't really get any harder with just HP increase. It will just take one more round to finish each fight... Not even this mod can alleviate the easy gameplay of chapter 2. Sadly. The source of the problem is that enemies need much better AI and skill/spell choices. And certain player skills/spells need nerfing.

Started the game first time with this since I hate easy rpgs. Normal mode. Truth is, the difficulty was a bit too much early in the game. It gets more balanced as time passes by though.

Those early archers especially and undead mages, are overpowered as hell, were even ridiculous at times. The only way to overcome those early difficulties was do every single easy town quest before leaving the city, and even then, selectively choose quests and places to go. Save too often too, before every fight actually. It's natural to die. Not all fights around Cysael were doable. Steadily, step by step, doing every single side quest and always getting better loot from merchants in the meantime, somewhat made it more doable as time progressed.

this is Sparta, really. Normal difficult with this mod looks like Dark Souls, BUT you just need carefully create classes of main heroes, make a strong ally, and use some "big barabums". Sorry for my English (Im Russian).
I have pass all first bosses (Brakk etc), on Normal, with this mod. Simply mage+warrior, crafting, strong fire and air spells. Turn on you brains, noobs!
P.S. Good leader can make game too easy.

This is a difficulty mod for an easy game. If it wasn't challenging, it would serve no purpose. If it's too hard, just play vanilla.

i find playing the normal vanilla version much easier without the mod. Sorry Soulmencer and to this mod's creator.. i think i'll just revert back to Vanilla style w/o mods.

I am finding things getting a bit more manageable now that my party is getting stronger with better skills and equipment... and I am getting creative when it comes to approaching larger battles, luring them with my hasted rougue. Though this is on par, trying to take on a group 1 level above me gets ugly, which is probably as intended... Though this is only because I am playing on easy and am able to inflict enough damage to take a few enemies out before they close distance... I think I can manage through on easy and that's all good, but I know on normal I'd get crushed, especially by those archers who seem to have double my action points.

i have to agree with soulmancer , Even in easy mode those archers are way too overpowered.
And whats worst is that a crossbow guy at level 6 gets to hit twice even after moving 5 steps.. whats up with that seriously? Thier dmg is 54 - 59 and my health goes down faster then thier " -50% health ".

This seems like a bit too much. My characters are level 3 and I made some decent equipment purchases before heading to take on the undead, but archers seems insanely overpowered and all enemies seem to have a lot more action points then I. casters moving and then casting 2 spells, archers moving and firing 3 times. It seems NPC's have twice as many action points as my party and usually I'm out numbered 2 to 1... I get that it's suppose to be hard, but I'm playing on easy and still getting anhilated.

@Thekryan: I don't know all of the changes that aren't applied, but I do know some.

These are the only changes I know for sure will not work on saved games that did not have the mod installed from the beggining of a new game:

1) The 1 to 2 action points increase for NPCs.
2) The 1 to 3 new skills added on some NPCs..
3) The four companion changes.

I installed this mod but I have a question. It has been stated that: "The mod requires starting a new game for all the features to work. ". Since I'm quite advanced in game progress I don't want to start game from the beginning. So my question is what features exactly won't work if I dont restart my game. @Campy: Yeah, I think you are actually the 3rd person to comment on the smoke.

The main use I saw in smoke is that sometimes if you are inside it you can use sneak.

I would have also thought the mod was responsible for the two things if I was in your place.

Everyone, it seems that the 1.0.177 patch may be causing crashes when you attempt to Save with 3-4 players in game.

I triple checked all the Source Difficulty files and did not find any mistakes.

I don't know if this means that we have to wait for a new official patch or if it is rare bad luck since only a few people are reporting this.

There is a small chance that the five steps below could fix this for you.

1) Host load the saved game then wait about 10 seconds after everything is done.
2) Host induvidually select each party member.
3) Host move each party member and then view their invetory.
4) 2nd player join, 10 seconds later have the 3rd, and 10 seconds later the 4th.
5) Wait 10 seconds and then Save the game.

0) If starting a New Game have the host create both characters in Single Player.
Then follow the 5 steps above, but do not invite the 3rd or 4th player until you have companions for them to control.

If anyone has any new info let us know here in the comments section.

@Finalize: Hmm I updated all in game files for version 1.11 when the new update came out.

I also just double checked the files to ensure four player support was enabled.

It could be possible that the 1.0.177 official patch broke any possibility of 4 player support.

Great mod to let people enjoy 4-man coop, cheers!

Having a big problem though, with the latest version 1.0.177. When a 3rd person joins the game and I try to save, the game crashes. Is this a problem with compatibility with the latest version or something else? We started a fresh new game, and we all have the mod enabled (no other mods installed).

@Delicate Flower: That is very strange. Try this:

1) Go in game, disable the mod, press activate, and then exit the game.

2) Go here:
C:\Users\**YOUR-USER-NAME**\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin\Mods

3) Delete "source difficulty".

4) Go in game and the mod should be updated.

@MochaMatt: I don't think your crashing is due to the mod, although I can't be certain.

(It would also be strange for me to do so).
