From what I can tell Rookie G, it still works perfectly! Just need to go to Custom Multiplayer > Halo 3 > Modded Maps, and the Albatros Sandtrap map should be there

@Divinitii I'm not sure why, but it seems like clients can pilot if they enter from inside of the cargo hold, but not from in front. For some reason only the host has full 360 degree access, but everyone should be able to pilot if they enter from the right angle. Again I have no idea what could be causing this behavior to be different for the host and client

Also I think in my testing I noticed some issues saving forge maps during multiplayer. If you're spawning items in the pre-placed albatrosses (if you spawned in your own, it definitely doesn't work) and they're still not saving correctly, try having any clients quit before the host saves/quits the map. Its definitely possible to get the variants to save correctly despite the jank

I'll take some time to investigate and hopefully find the cause for these issues. Thanks for the feedback!

We can't get anyone except for the host to pilot the Albatross, and we're also having the issue with Forge items spawning at the center of the map.

@DrakeHurley I have a quick follow-up. This appears to only be the case for Albatrosses that were spawned in via Forge. If you break open the doors of the pre-placed ones, and add spawns inside, they will save correctly. I worry there may be an engine limitation preventing it from working for the spawned-in ones, but I'll continue to investigate.

@DrakeHurley ah crud, that's a known bug from a while ago that I was pretty sure I fixed. Honestly, I'm not sure why that's happening at this point. Give me some time to investigate. I'll publish an update as soon as I find a fix.

Hey thanks! I did run into one issue just a heads up, every time i place objective's/Items in them, when loading up the map it spawns those things in the center of sand trap instead, was wondering if I'm missing something?

@DrakeHurley Excellent question! Yes, it should be possible, but not without some degree of jank. The doorless variant will work fine, but the animated versions won't have a way to adjust where the doors spawn when they break off, so it might look a bit odd sometimes. I'm working on a few projects at once right now, so it'll be awhile before I have a chance to implement the change myself.

All that really needs to be done is to copy the damage sections config from albatross_closed.model to the other albatross .model files. It shouldn't be too complicated, but would be quite tedious.

@HALOvBEASTY RejectedShotgun, by coincidence, created a very similar Albatross to me and revealed his just a bit before mine. He is a very talented modder, but otherwise no credit is due here. This is a 100% Wert original.

Furthermore, he tends to keep the details on how his mods work to himself, whereas the Albatross you see here is fully open source and has been since its original release. Tags and source files are available on the project GitHub page.
Anyone is free to take this version of the Albatross, modify it, add to it, use it in a map, re-release it, etc, with the only requirement being to acknowledge the license; and I encourage anybody interested in the vehicle to do so! :)

@Dungle The default destructible Albatross spawned on the map does not have a door animation (they are the "Albatross (Closed)" variant). You can spawn the regular Albatross in forge mode, which should have doors that open when you land and close when you take off. Sorry for any confusion
