Blender and Blender Source Tools both updated and screwed a few things up.
I can't export animations on their own anymore, and for some reason bone rotations are getting messed up after scaling the model even though the axes are properly aligned, so the model itself is smaller than is comfortable (more goblin size instead of proper grey alien size).

If you know the model you want from another Source Engine game, Workshop or Source Film Maker then it's easy to port, as it would already be rigged too. ZeqMacaw's Crowbar tool can extract the model and texture files from the .vpk (model will in /models, the .mdl and a couple other files, textures will be in /materials and.vtf and .vmt files). The whole unit is composed of the body volume and the skeleton, or the "mesh" and "armature." The armature is "rigged" to the mesh, which tells the mesh where and how to deform geometrically to simulate movement. If you're lucky then you just have to rename the armature and do the delta animation fix.
