ive updated this for private use. i will probably (maybe anyway) tweak the values a bit more and maybe add more hyperium weapons. as of right now ive added this, slightly tweaked its range/damage value, changed consumption from 1 hyperium per shot to something like 5, crew reloads 1 hyperium, you get 5 shots.
also converted the UV beam to a hyperium anti-shield weapon (weaker disruptor, faster bulletspeed).

i dont feel 100% comfortable with uploading something that is just modified version of someone elses work, but if anyone want to fix this for themselves so you wont crash from using this all you have to do is edit this:

Hyperium isn't as much of an issue for me as I created several mods that increase the amount of hyperium I can mine (most notible mods are Mineable Megaroids and its Hyperium add-on).

I feel like using Hyperium to craft the gun would be better than using it as its ammo, considering Hyperium is kind of a... Hard to get resource. Still, quite an interesting weapon

Btw, I like the idea of using the long range but slow firing warp gun. Maybe max out penetration at the cost of damage?

Godspeed, I recommend taking a look at kitbashing the parts and rules files. Trying to balance a good high-tech option that isn’t boring to use.
Love the idea of top-mounted guns though, so that’s the big challenge.

A turreted version of this that uses both hyperium and ammo,
or hyperium infused ammo, would be really cool.
I'm always looking for more turreted weapons, because... Well...

Disruptors already pass through active shields, so you can do the same with this weapon as well

I think the idea of it being able to teleport through shields. it moves slow until it reaches the shield then teleports to the other side. Don't know how plausible that would be to make, though. Maybe it uses shield hit detection and instead teleports the shot through in the direction of the shield generator, but maintains the same direction. It only makes one jump, so multiple layers of shielding stops it.

Mh I'll think about making it long range and low fire rate.
In the meantime I've been working on an update with a factory to manufacture hyperium infused bullets.
It consumes normal bullets and hyperium.
But it's not done yet.

Conceptually, I'd think that an FTL weapon would have LONGER (400+) range, keep the penetration, but have a lower fire rate. Plus, that'd fill a niche that is lacking in the game: long-range weapons that aren't spinal mount railguns. Especially with the recent change to ion ranges, it's hard to find something that can hit railgun ships that move backwards as they fire. And honestly, there are already plenty of short-range weapons in the game, especially in other mods like GA.

Regardless, interesting addition to the game, because as others have noted, it's really easy to have huge amounts of hyperium once you get a mining laser. In fact, it'd be nice if there were systems that used other mined resources as fuel/ammo, like mass drivers that consume steel, but this is a good start.

With batteries each battery is actually 1000 energy so in reality there are no real fractions.
Maybe you could convert hyperium into inner energy somehow to power the gun, but i am unsure yet if that would be possible.

Hyperium is hardly 'valuable' if you have a mining laser - there's TONS of regular Hyperium asteroids even in the starting areas of the game (level 1-2 areas).
Also, several weapons use fractional amounts of energy, so presumably the game can parse fractional amounts of other resources, given that power is literally just the Batteries resource.

The consumption is already at 1.
Haven't actually tried if you can do like 0,1 or something.

Instead of introducing a new resource, why not just reduce the hyperium consumption per shot until you get it to a rate that you feel is appropriate? That could have the same effect as adding an ammo factory, but without the inconvenience

Yes hyperium is the ammo.
But I'm not really completely satisfied with it because hyperium is so valuable.
I'm thinking about adding a new resource and a factory to create hyperium enriched ammo or something in that direction.
So, that you would use hyperium and ammo to create a higher quantity than using the hyperium directly.

Okay the idea is great. but the cost of firing these things are too high. It needs some sort of buff that will make it stand out from other weapons. like a high penetration, shield penetration, or power drain. Or maybe make it like a utility weapon, low damage but has an AOE power drain that has high penetration on both armor and shields.

I'm not really satisfied with the balancing.
Hyperium is pretty valuable.
I'm thinking about adding a factory to this, so you would produce hyperium enriched ammo to use with the weapon.
That way 1 hyperium could produce like 4 ammo or something.
