sorry. A mod called Fay skills was causing a conflict. Uninstalling this mod and playing it solved the problem.

There seems to be a problem with the skillpoint system. No matter what I do, I can't use the 6 points to learn the next level of magic.

Indeed there was an error. The correction is now up so it should work like a charm.

I am having issues too with game start and I am only using the new version. If I just use the new base lore alone, it works just fine, its just when I add the add on.

Dream Traveler see that you only use the NEW version of the base mod. The old one doesn't work anymore.

I believe this mod might be in need of some kind of bugfix currently despite the green light in mod manager. The base Lore of the Lady mod works fine but I'm having issues starting my game with this one checked on.
