It's a bit of a holdover from the initial concept, where the player would have infinite boost and the killgrid would force them to use thrusters resets instead of just flying to the end. The killgrid still serves that function, but it would have been more elegant to add one or two more constellations. I just didn't think of that while I was making the level.
I did try to make the killgrid relatively gentle, by animating it on a trigger and starting it off slow.

The chasing killgrid seems like a pointless constraint.
