I didn't make them recruitable because they are very plentiful versions of the rare skeletons. But they share their dialogue package with starving bandits, so it may be possible to recruit them with the Recruit Prisoners mod.

How do we make them an ever-increasing threat like the frogmen invasion mod? This has great potential to be a zombie crisis mod which the entire world of Kenshi must combat.

I finally experienced the madness of the Grey Desert. Due to there being no naturally occurring nests in this zone, the bonemen were running completely amok and wiping out the Waystation, among other things.

Their squads have now been significantly dialed back. Import your game if you've already started one.

Bone King is required because it's the source of all the assets, like the races, equipment, and graves etc.

Maybe a stupid question but do I actually have to have the original The Bone King mod installed? Because I might want your nests of the weaker ones, but not the full on bone king mod?

I am glad this mod doesn't make these 'beings' recruitable. I'll use this mod for more enemies in the world. Would be fun! Cheers.

The ones in this mod are weaker than the original mod and are not intended to be recruitable. However, they use the same dialogue as Starving Bandits, so if you have Recruitable Prisoners installed, their dialogue MAY make them available (I haven't tested).

The ones from The Bone King are recruitable. Their nests can be found in some zones surrounding the town from that mod, so I suggest you check that mod's description.
