Here's answers to your 3 questions:
1. That object lets you define custom portals as world objects. There's a wiki attached to the Github page (linked in the description) that describes how to work with the advanced features of the mod including these. For normal purposes, though, you don't have to worry about these.
2. Everyone can use any portal, but generally the portals work the most reliably for the person that put them down due to the way the networking works.
3. Everyone needs the mod loaded, including the server if playing on dedicated.
Three more questions please
- what does the PORTAL object do that is black and stands upright?
- If I create a blue and orange portal can my squad mates use them or do they also need their own gun?
- Do they need the mod loaded in their side?
As far as planting a portal 3 clicks away goes, it should be possible, but you'll want to make sure you have the portal gun's max distance setting adjusted appropriately in the addon options. I believe it caps out at 5km since that's the engine's distance limitation for raycasts.
The whole server freezes when i create a portal. We get no error messages of any kind either ingame or from the server. Anyone else having the same eissue?
Im firing around trying to get a portal to stick onto the bottom and i got one to stick, and then i immediately lept into my portal and hit Shift B and stole a flying helicopter. Best mod ever 100/1 star rating will portal a helicopter again
@Mr.Wanaskiwin You can drive tanks and all sorts of other vehicles through the portals! (I've even flown jets through them :P)
Thanks for the report, somehow this one slipped through, testing my end it didn't show, but popped up in the .rpt so I could at least see it, actually let us see other errors that hadn't been found with the sounds so thanks for that.
It should have no detrimental affects in game at present and we're working on a "fix" we'll let you know when we're able to get that updated.

But in the game itself I have no problems (that I would notice).
Such as the wall of a multi-storey house, just below the roof. There, I let fall a few enemies to their deaths and even "disarmed" an armored personnel carrier.
What a Christmas fun.
- Portals sometimes not being visible on surfaces is a known issue related to model LODs, and unfortunately there's not much we can do about it
- You can shoot out of broken windows, so long as there's an actual hole in the window geometry
- A "no ammo" version is already available; simply enable the "infinite ammo" option in the addon options!
