Sky Rogue's just quiet like that. As for the project itself, VSkies for Sky Rogue is on hiatus for the time being since I've been working on other projects outside of Sky Rogue.

I don’t really know how you would be able to telegraph the lore in game. You could go the Fromsoft route and present the lore and story in item descriptions. Maybe environmental storytelling in the missions if the game allows you to pull it off.

Yeah. If you've got any headcanons or such, do post it in a discussion thread — I'd be happy to hear it out and answer questions.

I've got an itching to reveal more stuff about the world of Vernal Skies, though I consider it more of a backburner thing compared to ensuring the jets fly good and the right niches are filled.

I would totally be on board with having extra brains, though for the time being Vernal Skies is too personal for me to open up to public collaboration. Having seen what happens to private projects gone public too soon, it typically ends up rather messy.

Sky Rogue as a platform is also not really conducive to the kind of worldsetting I'd like to go for, there are characters and factions and motivations that don't get telegraphed really well through "take off, shoot voiceless meatbags, come home."

I've considered opening up a fan discussion thread for people to grill me for details but there is a high possibility that the worldbuilding will get muddled. I'd have to reconcile multiple interpretations of lore and it would get asldkfjhasdkjfhoglkj.

And if you have any new projects I would be onboard as you have the ability to establish interesting settings as shone here! Obviously I must display my worth so I would accept any trial or test you want me to do? (Writing or editorial in nature of course!)

Disheartening to learn that regarding custom missions; considering all your weapon addons (which are amazing, I'll add), there is a deep well there that just can't be utilized.

Boss aircraft that ignore the trend of super mobility/speed or exceptional loadout capacity could be interesting, but ultimately the pick and choose nature of plane armaments here can turn even a simple aero into a deathball with small regard to skill.

I could be entirely wrong, but I feel its my sentiment with some workshop mods that are, or used to be available.

The solution I wanted to try for custom planes would have been to give them more micromissile ports and very high durability (for bosses) but the problem there is that they would be separate, and more importantly player accessible planes that would end up just being feature bloat.

While it would give me an excuse to do custom liveries, and give players the opportunity to fly "boss" aircraft, I think that's kind of boring.

If someone knows a way to somehow "hide" custom planes from the selection menu, do let me know.

I'd like to do missions, but the problem is that I want to use the actual planes for full immersion. Problem is that custom planes in custom missions don't use anything besides the default micromissile spammer AI.

The custom environments you see in the screenshots meanwhile are for an undisclosed project I'm working on, on the side. Do not expect those any time soon.

I imagine a bunch of custom missions might be planned as another addon, but for now, not yet.

New plane added! The Salamander is now the new Mudpuppy, and the old F/B-40G is currently undergoing an extensive redesign for a planned expansion pack focusing on the Cold War of the Vernal Skies universe.

Radar range was something I wanted players to figure out on their own, or at least look at the provided statistics box.

For the Salamander specifically, this was meant to deter people from making it a one-size fits all multirole aircraft in the same vein as the base game KONDOR.

If I'm not mistaken, you can upgrade aeros in the custom mission menu, you just can't get money in them.

Each plane in the pack should be running around what their base game counterparts would be at Mark 2, save for certain statistics (mostly health and speed).

Oh this mod is EXCELLENT, I love when original aircraft get posted on the workshop and these are easily among the best. I do wish there was something to tell you the aircraft's radar range (although that's more of a base game problem and not a mod one) because equipping a Salamander with a Blue Streak was a VERY bad idea, as it turns out. Still a very good mod though, it makes me wish I could spend money in custom missions because I'd love to tackle those in these planes!

Ah, that's a shame. I get the Siren to an extent — the high-pitched whine isn't something I thought would be a problem point.

Editing engine noises isn't on the docket for the time being — at least not for these aeros...

I thought that spiral design was familiar from somewhere . I planned to mention the Siren though, maybe the Olm? Both are a coin toss, but ultimately can avoid the problematic ones, as there are plenty other aeros.

Your mileage may vary depending from aero to aero. I'm not sure if there's any particularly annoying ones aside from those meant to be a little on the harsh side.

For one plane at particular — the Janus — that one was meant to be grating or at the very least kind of harsh sounding due to its "Novel Engine," inspired by the Yukikaze OVA's JAM.

Only real feedback I have to give is just the aero's engine volume. Sometimes its fine, other times one aero or another is too grating to fly consecutively, or is loud enough to muffle other sfx. That's really it, having a lot of fun experimenting with everything otherwise.

Also, if I'm not mistaken a recent update made it so going into first-person view disables the mesh, so even if I did do the traditional workaround for "cockpits" — that being making the cockpit just part of the mesh (which the vanilla aeros decidedly do not do) — it'd just disappear, and render that moot.

There may be something in the save file that you can manipulate to renable mesh viewing in first person, but I operate on the basis that most users probably wouldn't figure that out, if that's a thing at all.

1. Vernal Skies is not a "replacement" for the vanilla aerodynes; the statement that the pack is meant to "enhance" the Sky Rogue experience is simply because no one else has currently aspired to make something internally balanced like the default aerodynes.

2. The planes use the default aerodyne statlines and associated upgrade keys because planes made with Unity (Asset bundles) do not support upgrades.

3. Aside from aero statlines, there's currently no way to reference anything the default planes use. This includes cockpits and engine sounds.
