yep, the skybox itself makes a massive difference in lighting even in daytime. Spots hidden by shadow, even in an otherwise planet-surface-high-noon situation, can be either well lit or completely dark, depending on skybox. Wherever the sun itself isn't hitting, the light is determined by the skybox, not by light scattering in the atmosphere. It's not immediately intuitive to new players or mod-users.

Ambient light in space engineers is determined by the brightness of the skybox.

It is not about the sky box but about the ambient light. Can't see shit at night, and I don't like to wait 30 minutes or so for it to get day again.

You can use other skyboxs with this mod, just load them higher up in the mod list.
