I assume that manually writing to the json file introduced a json error, leading to the mod being unable to load the file properly and handling it as a corrupted file as a result
Thanks and respect to all modders which make all the good mods and tools.
you will probably find a warning in the log file that says "failed reading [...]DSS_ExtraCarePackages.json", with the error attached to it.
the mod assumes file corruption in such a case and resets the file
"updating loop" is a behavior caused by a bug in the game (not mod updater) where the game fails to extract the updated zip file into the mod folder. This can happen either due to those folders getting blocked by broken folder permissions (often, but not always caused by onedrive, controlled folder access or simply the fact that the extraction system is prone to failing on its own.
mod updater is mandatory to fix the game inability to properly download the update in the first place, but it cannot prevent the games equally buggy extraction process failing, as that runs before mods are loaded. For that reason it is marked as a requirement.
if the game prompts you to restart, ignore and remove the message (esc key), then wait for ~20 seconds and restart the game manually .
you can also try disabling the mod, unsubscribing and resubscribing while in the main menu, to fix broken folder permissions.
I tried to run this mod without the Mod Updater - but that is not possible. So I will need to change to a diffrent mod :(
care packages shown in the printer are not saved with the game, they are rerolled when you reopen the printer after a load.
if you refer to the care packages from the care package editor, please send me the log file, that sounds like the data file for it got corrupted
Use mod updater and follow the troubleshooting guide
the error message points towards the game files for the frosty planet dlc being corrupted, which in turn crashes the supply closet (the skin selector uses the supply closet for duplicant preview)
try verifying your game files to restore that file
Failed to decompress data for the AssetBundle "StreamingAssets\hires_dlc2_bundle".
Is my save just fried or is it salvageable?
If you added it in the care package editor, make sure you did not add any measures that lock you out from obtain them, like q higher cycle requirement
use mod updater and turn off onedrive if the game fails at the installation
the mod files (that get locked by onedrive) are in /mods/steam/2856555858
the config files are stored in /mods/config/
as long as you keep the latter or backup it to some other location and restore them after, the mod config will be kept
you probably have onedrive interferring with the games' ability to properly install/update the mod.
turn it off for your documents folder, then follow the Klei Troubleshooter [support.klei.com] to restore the file permissions
you can find the translation template in the mod folder and in mods\strings_templates as "setstartdupes_template.pot"
should there be an option to disable individual vanilla packages?
Turn it of and copy the folder to a safe location, then nuke it.
that will allow the game to recreate the folders without OneDrive breaking the permissions
Version UPDATE:"Duplicant Stat Selector [DSS] Restart Required
but after I restart it still shows the message like a loop
It keeps crashing when clicking the care package editor button in game options. What happened??
