As for your second question: yes, there are moves in this puzzle that don't appear in the portal 2 campaign, but there is nothing which is non-standard throughout workshop maps.

Obviously, standing on the cube is not forbidden, since it's a part of the solution. But I'm not sure about jumping:

Btw I appreciate the subtle hints provided by the lightstrips.
The map took me 2 hours until my brain was dried out and another 15 minutes after the jump start (hint coming from the walkthrough)
