Tanback is and always will be my favorite 'pet'. Everytime I have to start a new game I make a straight shot to him- he makes the whole game a lot more fun. I'm always happy to have 'my kitty'.

If you can do annything, it would be amazing; Tanback's one of my favorite mods ever for Skyrim.

Regardless if he makes it into SE or not, thank you for making him...he and I have taken out Kilkreath Temple together more times than I can count. He's also a beast (heh) against Dragon Priests. Lots of fond memories with him. :)

I'm sorry you had to get rid of UFO in your case, but I am glad that you got to use Tanback! I'm glad you like him. I'd really like to try and add a few more lines to him and such sometime.

Yeah, I'd tried all of that, and hadn't fixed it... But given I preferred having my Tanny as opposed to a bunch of shiny stuff for humanoid followers I hardly use, I uninstalled UFO, and did a clean reinstall of Tanback, and he's working again.

@Strixursus - Hmm. Check your load order, Tanback should be loaded before UFO, if memory serves - It's been a long time since I did development on this mod; most of the original files have been lost when a previous PC nuked itself. If swapping the load order about doesn't solve the problem, then I have two potential solutions for you.

1. Try manually setting him as your follower by opening console, clicking on Tanback to obtain his ID number (I can't remember it offhand), and entering the following, removing the brackets of course:
setrelationshiprank (TanbackIDNumber) 3
player.setrelationshiprank (TanbackIDNumber) 3

2. Try clicking Tanback, and in console typing:
recycleactor

These solutions are not foolproof and they may not work, but they're the best I can think of for the time being! Unfortunately I can't tinker much with this anymore as I said previously, most of my work has been lost.

I've tried uninstalling completely, then reinstalling, this mod; I had lost Tanback somewhere and he wasn't returning to his camp, even after waiting for a week, so I tried to reinstall. He's at his camp, previous owner's corpse is there (so it's a completely new spawn, as by the time I'd gotten to Tanback the first time, the corpse had despawned), but Tanback doesn't respond at all when I try to talk to him; I seemingly can't even initiate the conversation, spamming E does nothing. I don't think it's savefile bloat, as the character's file is only 13.9 MB. I am using UFO, as well, if that has any impact on things.

@Revan AFT and UFO do work with Tanback with some quirks that are individual save dependent. Make sure he is loaded BEFORE UFT or AFT in your load order.

This is not an error that I can fix as it's a problem built into the core of how Skyrim works -- The only reliable solutions to this are to try using a savefile bloat remover, or to start a new savefile.

just wanted to say good job/thanks for the mod! I really enjoy having tanback as a follower and having a him by my side gives a whole new layer of bada** to my character.
Notes: I've only had one instance of him repeating the same line every 5 sec in a dungeon so that is all good. The only thing is, he is breaking my stealth cover. Maybe its because of the armor ive given him? Though it is all light armor and the feet are enchanted with muffle, mabye its just a bug or something?
Anyway, good stuff!!

i am having the same problem there is no text to say to follow me just the two lines

If you tell him to wait at home, he should return to his tent in front of Wolfskull Cave where you found him. If he's consistently not returning, the scripts are not executing properly in which case I would suggest reinstalling Tanback. If you have not already, I would look into a savefile bloat remover as a memory issue can sometimes cause scripts to fail. Check your load order as well, if you have any Follower Overhauls installed, they may be conflicting with his scripts, which are custom written for him.

Ah, yes this happens sometimes when your save file is too large in size -- Tan's scripts fail to properly execute. This is down to a problem within Skyrim's engine and is not something that I can fix. Running save-file de-bloater programs can help, but the easiest solution is, unfortunately, to start a new character.

ok well i guess i kind of wasted your time, he'll talk to me now but it doesn't give me the option to ask him to follow me. the only dialogue i get is "What happened to your old master" and "I can understand you!"

What do you mean by disappeared? Is there anything to do with the mod present in your game? Does Tanback appear?

Hey all, thanks so much for continuing to enjoy my mod. I still check here, I'm just mega busy with a lot of stuff at the minute. I've done a lot of work towards making him rideable, but some stuff with the code just isn't having it. As for requests for armour and stuff, I have the skills, but I don't necessarily have the time!

Any chance you can make some sort of battle armour (that i can enchant against dragon breath) for him to wear?

After a bit my Amazing followers tweak mod I put in kick in and now Tanback works purrr..fectly and stays where I need him in conjuction iwth MHIYH mod.

I'm hoping I won't destroy my saves by getting all the mods I think I'd have fun playing with ._.

Great mod, love this cat, he does get in the way sometimes but dont pets in real life do that too. I cant gt him to stay at a particular home even with MHIYH mod but I alway find him back near Wolf Skull cave so no problem if I do lose track of him. Anyway this mod fullfills my fantasy of having a sabertooth companion, much thanks for your work in this.

He disappeared on me, I tried wolfskull cave and the summon follower option in AFT, I miss him....... :,(

I love Tanback to bits! He is the most enjoyable beast follower I've found and I prefer him to the humanoid followers anymore. His comments are priceless and its what I image a big cat could be thinking. Nicely done. I do wish he was a little tougher though, and attacked more readily. Also, he is a bit huge. I ended up having to scale him down with console commands so that I could keep him. He looks quite good smaller and maybe that's an option to consider if you are going to do any customization with him. Also, it would fit. The runt of the litter is often the smartest of the bunch :)

@Gwyn - he's marked as Essential. You could always use the console to unmark him if you wanted him to be able to die, but, his stats are regular old Sabrecat ones so he won't last terribly long. @taly Move it Dammit! Can be found on the Nexus

Oh,,Move it dammit..where can I FIND it..all my followers block me, even my horse, who has separation anxety,I think he was modeled after a dog's AI. I need Move it dammit!

It's unfortunately very time consuming to make and rig new models. I have the skills to do it, but the time is hard to come by. I use a mod called 'Move It Dammit!' That'll help with Tanback getting out of the way. He doesn't hate water at all -- he follows wherever! :)

I got Tanback to follow me. I thought you said he hated water? he was luxuraiting in my hot tub, when I told him to realx, and I had to get him out to follow me. Maybe you would consider a Please Move command, he stays close, and I have to jump on stuff to get around him inside, he does not move, lol. And it would be fabulous to be able to put armor or backpacks or something on him.

AWW.I love him, but he won't follow me either. I will try loading him further up, but even if I can't get him, he l;ooks great. Great mod.

@nathaniel: There is a problem with scripts not executing in save files over a certain size. Cleaning your save file using a bloat remover may work, but the easiest solution is to start a game with a new character. This is a problem in the core engine of Skyrim, and not something I can fix.
