@Elmano unfortunately, the Horde Riders are tied to how much Herd a nomad presently has, more than any specific yurt buildings that make it easier to quantify; I've reduced the value from 15% to 5%, which looks roughly equivalent

I didn't notice that issue when I was updating for 1178, thanks for reporting the issue. It has been corrected and the Kingdom of Sicily (and any other problems that also might've been from my attempt to touch the history file) have been corrected.
In the meanwhile, I will be looking at an alternative method for balancing the event troops spawned at the start dates, so those fights might be a bit imbalanced for a while.

For some reason this mod is not compatible with the new start date 1178 for me, it destroys the kingdom of sicily and makes some random vassals here or there independent, not accurate to 1178

I can confirm that the mod works with most of the Overhaul mods. And also on the newest patch.

So the other version is a game rule, so I'm assuming that that one would require a new game. Can I enable this one midway through a playthrough? I'm using Crusader Wars and battles are starting to get taxing on my PC.

Might I suggest that the High and Massive feudal contracts be reworked? In its current form it's more beneficial to the liege to have 3 separate counts in a duchy, rather than having 1 duke that owns all 3 counties
Perhaps make it so that MAA size only applies if the Vassal is of Duke rank or higher?
And the maintenance/recruitment reductions perhaps be weaker or stronger depending on the rank of the vassal too

could you make a version with slightly more levies, just change it so buildings still provide levies or at least half as many levies? no much use to build barracks when they provide a measly 10 men

Any chance that you can up the man-at-arms. Like some kingdoms can affor like realisticaly 10.000 troops? But composed only of man-at-arms.

@saintpepsi would love to see a version with a bit more levies. Now buildings are almost useless. You could reduce the game base values, but not decrease that much the values for buildings. You could reduce how fast levies are replenished, an amy that has been wiped out should take at least a few years to get it back to a decent level.

I think you mightve gone just a little to far in the reduction, loaded up a game and some counts only have 28 levies at day one of the game

I have an idea: reduce the number of Levies provided by castles, cities, and shrines, and keep the number of Levies for buildings the same, so that buildings made of Levies aren't worth less.

@Caloens2k1 I have reduced the levies by altering the building_values file, reducing the number of levies provided by the buildings and by how much they scale by; before, the lowest building started with 50 levies, and it now starts with 5. Where it used to increase by 25 with each rank it now only adds 5.
I am currently working on creating game rules to adjust both the base value and scaling values, to create more preferential rules

i've reduced it so that more of Scandinavia needs to be norse (previous counter was for every 1 norse scandinavian counties, now it's for every 4 counties) to improve the armies, while also roughly halving the amount of MAA spawns in the varangian invasions

sounds good, but what about the northern invasions, they spam with 8k units usually

hire mercs besides the professional army?
