I've only just started using them myself and haven't delved into them yet but I believe one of them should let you do what you are asking for.

I just want to leave this idea somewhere: Can somebody *please* make an add-on for Forgotten Realms that allows you to pick what tech level each faction will be...? I'd really like to be able to do things like have the elves and dwarves as a medieval faction, but orcs and goblins as tribal. Or to be able to use FR in a futuristic mod pack where all factions are up-to-date with that world

@SalmonToastie In my opinion, the best way to learn how to make mods is by rimworld wiki and by looking at other mod files. I made this mod following the "ShekHiver Facial Patch" mod.

@pf01 I recommend to use autosort from the RimPY program/mod. It is definitely better than the vanilla ones and maybe it will fix the bugs problem. If not, send me the logs and I will try to check what is wrong

This mod has so many issues and I have no clue which mod in my modlist is blocking this mod and the forgotten realms from running.

OH MAN!!!! I am /SO/ grateful for this mod!!!!! I adore forgotten realms --can't play the game without it anymore -- and it's been killing me that they don't have faces to match the rest of my pawns !! so excited ty so much!

Yeah, that's why I mentioned whenever you have time since it adds quite a bit of subraces—at least the ones that would make sense to have different faces from Facial Animations, so... yeah, take your time.

@Fi I looked at this mod. Each race has more than a dozen types of faces, so doing this patch would be time-consuming. Maybe someday

Love the patch, only issue I found so far is the patches don't check if the Races are active or not. Should be fixable with <Operation Class="ForgottenRealms.PatchOperation_SettingActive"> to check the value of the toggle.

There's an add-on known as Forgotten Realms - Elves and More that includes additional subraces of elves to Forgotten Realms.

If you don't mind adding support for those fellas, that would be splendid—of course whenever you have time.
