you're better off exploring the internet for source modding. my teaching is limited and all I can do to help is send the tools you're gonna need.

VTFEdit [gamebanana.com] - for exporting source textures
GCFScape [gamebanana.com] - for opening .VPK content
Crowbar - for tinkering with source models
GIMP [www.gimp.org]/any other image editing program - for editing textures
