there's an advanced fixture setting (bottom left of the screen there's a button when on fixtures) that allows you to turn the chassis off

im not sure what i would use this for, but i might give it an extra wheel and a V10

Nice mod. I made a trike using this mod and went for a wider stance (using fender flares to hide the wheel offset), stiff front ARBs, and somewhat narrow tires with disk brakes up front. Then I went for fairly soft rear ARBs, wider tires, and drum brakes in the rear (as drums won't have the caliper bug you had in your build). To hide the rear tires going through the rear arm, I used some 3D oval and cylinder pieces to act as a wider rear arm.

Doing that, the trike is quite stable. However, you still cannot use "full lock" on the steering as it will force the trike to understeer severely. Using about 80% steering is best when driving a trike with my setup, and doing so handles pretty well even though the rear is still quite stiff.

for some reason, i cannot get this mod to work as my game tells me it's incompatible

I think you should do a headset mod (in case to recreate the crew chiefs from the Cars films)
