Racefest is being rebuilt
I’ve already built and added 80% of the cars in game into custom Ai sets with race Ai, also every car will be painted by me and have different parts.
So it’s possible but it’s a lot of work.
Before I just gave every car in game the race Ai file and it worked with all cars on the standard Ai sets “Racefest mod” But now they have to be treated as whole new cars and not edits to the existing cars.
Over time I will be making more and eventually I can see something like what your looking for being made.

All cars now have 23 different AI drivers each and all car models now have their own full single make AI sets.

Created single make AI sets for the starbeast and roadcutter pro stocks
Each of them now have 23 individual drivers/cars each and a selectable AI set
Gatecrasher and Rocket single make AI sets will follow tomorrow.

Created custom cockpit views which make the window mesh/bars visible and hide the static drivers hands.
Let me know if you find the fine mesh of the starbeast 1 and gatecrasher 1 too difficult to see properly and i'll change the mesh to bars instead, i find it quite realistic.

I am thinking of creating cockpit cameras next to actually show the window mesh/bars, so that the player has to look through them like in real life.

For fun you can then press X on your pad to launch your car from the free camera, the longer you hold X the faster the cars shoots out! ;)

Increased gap between the 2 power levels for more AI overtaking action, but all AI now use a locked transmission, so they tend to kick the back end out more, which works very well as the more powerful cars are more prone to spin occasionally, making even better racing action and equality across the grid
Also refined engine powers with 2 engines per car now so that the performance levels are exact, before the cars shared engines so it was the separate engine parts making the power changes, now it's an exact 200 and 166 for all car models.
player can now choose from stock version 1 and 2 of the cars used, each with slight performance and part differences.

I'll play with your update tonight or maybe tomorrow. I got completely rained on and soaked at work today. Luckily tomorrow is Friday, so I just wear jeans.
Swapped out hood exhausts on all AI for realism with pro stock racing.
Each AI car type now has two versions of the following.
Rollcages, window bars, engine sounds and engine power.
It really adds more detail and individuality to the cars and grid.
The slight engine power differences makes for more overtakes during race, all cars have a slightly faster setup and a slightly slower setup so it still remains fair and equal.
The 2 engine sounds per car type also adds more realism with cars that are the same model having different sounding racing engines to eachother, they really sound great flying by as i've only used the best V8 sounds on the game.

Only time I've ever seen hood/bonnet pipes were in derbies, tractor pulls, stunt cars and trucks, stuff like that. But never for racing. With the exception of old style Grand Prix cars. But that is behind the driver, not in his field of view.
BTW, my racing experience comes from my family. Most of mine was in the 1990's.

Yeh I was thinking that, it was just to make it look more detailed with cars using different parts, also I thought to cater for racing and Derby’s with one car set, I’ll have a look later and perhaps change them to side pipes, I don’t think the long chrome side pipes are realistic either though are they?
Appreciate the knowledge input
This one is close to my heart, as I actually raced Pro Stocks and Modifieds in the Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin area. So if you do not mind my input, one thing that Pro Stockers do not use, is those silly exhaust pipes sticking out of the bonnets. The only time you ever see that is for derbies or other fun events outside of actual racing. Any way to get the AI drivers to not use those?
Added the mustang (rocket) along with 10 custom AI drivers using varied stocker parts, individually painted and power matched just like the current mod cars.
Assigned 4 better v8 sounds, 1 for each car so that they all give a different raw!!
It’s just the US pro stock Ai that race, there is no way of making a generic racing Ai to work with all of the base game Ai sets like my racefest mod used to do, unless you rebuild every car and Ai driver in the whole game and remake all of the Ai sets to include all of the rebuilt cars, the US pro stock Ai has only my custom made individual Ai drivers in it.
It’s the way the file structures work now.
