I don't think that's something I plan to support. I'm not particularly savvy at csharp, and family keeps me pretty busy. You might try the mod 300x Spawns (https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2841418880) and see if this is something that can deal with.

Can you either make another mod or add a setting to set how many creatures are allowed to spawn from statues?

This mod already supports that (essentially when an enemy is summoned, this turns off the "Was summoned by statue" setting).

Any chance you can make statues (like rabbit, worm, duck, firefly, butterfly, etc) able to catch those critters? Basically be able to farm?

My mod was indeed working with that one. I tested by crafting an Angry Bones statue, and when they were being summoned and killed they'd drop bones as expected.

I believe so. My recollection was that they thought that the player needed to have at least some interaction in order to deserve loot.

Yes, however, this mod does nothing to alter the behavior of mobs killed by lava. It's been a while, but I seem to recall that they made it so that enemies killed EXCLUSIVELY by lava will not give any drops (maybe that's just harder difficulties, I don't remember). So, to ensure you get the drops, do some damage yourself (like with any weapons/summons that go through walls).

I've run an update to ensure this does work for 1.4.4 (nothing actually changed, just had to rebuild it and change a version number).

Items will drop at the regular rate for a regular mob (the mod just turns off the flag indicating that they're statue-spawned).

A few vanilla statue-spawned mobs do drop items (such as zombie ones) at a reduced rate, but none drop coins, and many don't drop any loot (like the mimic). This mod removes the trait indicating that they were spawned by a statue, so you can get drops (including coins), collect spawned critters (something you can't do in vanilla), etc.

Just at a massively reduced rate so players couldn't just farm items like that.

It's C# (C Sharp). You can download Visual Studio for free and play around with it. When you run tModLoader, you can go to Mods, Develop Mod, and create a new one. It'll build the bare-bones structure for your mod. You can open the project in Visual Studio and start messing around with it. I know there are a number of sites that explain some of the basics of modding Terraria out there that will do a much better job of explaining than I can (though some may be a bit outdated).

Quick followup question on that. Which coding language Is used for Terraria mods? I have been curious about maybe playing around with it some day eventually but have no idea where to even begin. :3

To be honest, I have minimal experience with this coding language, so this was mostly just to get Statue Mobs Give Drops working in the current 1.4 environment. I couldn't even really figure out how to migrate webmilio's menu options, so dumped those in favor of expediency. If I ever get into learning more, I may add options if you want to restrict drops, or increase/decrease loot, etc, but I wouldn't really count on it anytime soon.
