It's subtle, it's nice, it reminds me of gen 1 unusuals, but yeah I didn't realize they were stars at first. But I'm not sure if that's a bad thing

With green or yellow on the effect, they look more like stinklines. The purple looks more like smoke. In general the cosmic effect isn't as pronounced as the name suggests.

I think you should have some outline for the stars to have their geometry be more emphasized. The trail could also use some tweaking; right now it looks more like smoke as opposed to what a comet tail tends to look irl.
