While the chat box is open, a log of received messages is shown. Up to 500 messages can be remembered, and the ↑ and ↓ arrow keys scroll through the history.

I clicked the trash icon, but nothing was cleared from chat, so I thought it must be something else.

It's the trash icon on the right side of the chat box - see images above. A clear chat hotkey is something I could totally add, thanks for the suggestion

This is for a friend with a small monitor, who ends up seeing nothing at all with all our death and resummon messages.

A configurable hotkey would be best. :)

my chat got broken and wouldent hide, so im glad i found this mod so i can clear it!!!!!!!

You can scroll the chat using the arrow up and down keys. That is a vanilla feature.

does this mod allow scrolling the chat? if not, is that a feature you could add?

@NotLe0n He probably wants you to fix something you already fixed like the ability to use /commands. Where His/Hers version didn't update yet.

There are very few mods for the game's text chat. It'd be nice if there were mods that modernized the overhead chat a bit more, let more than one line of chat be above your character for example
