yes but whats 5000? im assuming meters but even the smallest sonar in the game, already has a range of 60000 Meters. with my large sonar having 200000

tbh i'm working off of the same information as you since i've entirely forgotten how this controller works; the lua script(s) use the property.getNumber method to obtain the value from the max distance property, so to connect a keypad you'd need to write the value into the script(s) that use that property, and replace the property.getNumber with an input.getNumber. Might be difficult as i believe the code is minified

active sonar can ping the fish, sw devs haven't really given us a way to filter them out. if you wanna fix it you gotta disable wildlife

Great work!

This is one of the two sonars that I always use on my creations in career mode and it even featured on today's video where I highlighted the bug where - if you have the wildlife switched ON in the options - the active sonar keeps detecting all the fish around you.

Hopefully the devs will be able to patch it out, or at the very least give content creators the ability to filter out smaller objects via the lua script.

As for me, the distance filter work very bad. I use sonar to find boxes with loot playing career, and this sonar for some reason not able to update them (they float on the surface), unlike the other sonar from the workshop. But the other sonar, unlike yours, is too bad in terms of code and doesn't work only on the 2/2 monitor. That's why I am writing to you - if you have free time, please add possibility of more fine tuning ^-^

Im having a problem where there is always a ping to my right at varying distances, and when something that should send a ping is in FRONT of it it doesnt pick it up at all. do you know how to fix this?

'Toggle active sonar' will begin a blinker that is outputted on the 'ping' node (the rate of the blinker is proportional to the range set)

The max distance is in metres

The lines appearing from the sonar while your engines are running is due to the noise they produce being picked up by the sonar (it's called 'baffles' IRL)

'deadzone' refers to the several tick period following a ping where the sonar can only hear itself, the filtering is basically just ignoring any input during this time

I placed a small ship nearby and it HAS picked the engines sound, shown on the sonar. It does work Id give you that.

Nothing much. You did an ok job on this. I have to say that this sonar I do not understand to the max it seems. I would give a 2.5 star rating BUT I might not know everything about this system, so I wont give any rating what so ever.

Question: Its not actually said anywhere in SW that I can see. Does the sonar unit need to be in the water? Kinda wierd to have it on a boat's roof or on a flying helicopter.

Hey man, this is the best MC for the new sonar yet, good work! I'm planning on updating my sub with this and will give credit.

Is it possible to add a composite touch ability to the screen so if I click on a bearing line, it will give me the bearing and maybe even distance? If not, it's really good as is!

This sonar doesn't support baffles filtering, your best bet is to just ignore them
