Honestly I doubt Engie would side with the confederates.

1) He’s a team player, he wouldn’t go for secession

I would pose a challenge with this item: Make a weapon that would work with a set. If you're going with the theme of American Cavalrymen, I'd highly suggest taking a look at the Remington Rolling Block rifle and the Springfield Trapdoor Carbine rifle. It'd go spectacularly well with this item.

This is a great item! It makes me wish for a Colonel Custer loadout, or more loadouts related to the post-civil war, turn of the century American Army.
