OK well I don't know if I agree that it being real necessarily makes it cooler. But I do believe people's reaction to the fact it's real are fucking way out of proportion.
It's a burnt corpse, in a photo realistic game made in the early 2000's.
So no shit they used a burnt corpse image. Other games have done a lot worse for far less then a burnt corpse.
