I've had a thought for a while, how strict is gun control in the Cormandy Republic? Is there a Cormandy Second Amendment or do civilians have to smuggle in their self defense weapons? Are older weapons perhaps more common/popular on the civilian market? (if there is a second amendment-type law)

Cormandy has their grip on numerous terrestrial planets. Habitable ones have at least one intelligent specie. A far most of them are friendly towards CR. Sometimes however, a part of alien society isn't nearly as accepting of CR, and they create various terrorist groups to limit CR's influence over the region. Some of these groups have access to military-grade equipment, which forced CR to arm their law enforcement with gear that could counter that threat, even sending tactical soldat squads to aid law enforcement when the situation is too much to bare.

This may also be due to CR having megatonnes of equipment to spare.

It's a bit weird how the basic officers are decked out in full military equipment at all times, but I suppose this could have a lore explanation? I guess the Cormandy Republic deals with high levels of crime on the worlds they occupy so they have to wear full military gear all the time? That's just my assumption, either way I'm still confused.
