@Sunbather the way to do this is compress the sound, a great app to do this is Dolby Audio driver (which is tied to certain motherboards) or Dolby Access in the Microsoft Store (only for headphones). The latter says its Dolby Armos but its also compression and EQ

Curiously, I have the opposite problem. I find the ambient sounds way too quiet, so I have to ramp up the volume to enjoy them. But as soon as I get into a shootout my ears get blown away. Does anybody know of a mod that actually increases ambient sounds?
I know of some mods that make your own gunshots quieter (TPW Mods; ACE) but this only applies for your own weapon and it doesn't sound natural either. And then there are mods that make the whole game quieter (earplugs) but here the ambient sound also gets quieter.

Just went through the code of both ACE and this mod, and I don't see any reason for incompatibility. ACE doesn't touch the environment volume at all.

- Running this alongside with your "Enhanced Soundscape" has chance of reducing FPS?

love your other mods but this one is causing freezes periodically. turning it off seems to have resolved the issue

This mod unfortunately not compatible with ACE3 hearing and Perceptive (View Distance and Audio Levels) Mods. At least it doesn't work for me.

Please fix your published id in the meta.cpp, its set to 0. Causes issues of showing up in the server browser as a required mod. Same issue with align mod too.
