Just updated and got mods working, noticed this one ticked off.
Re-enabled, restarted and immediately CTDT after logo.

Be keeping on eye for if/when this updates, it too useful to lose.
Should honestly be in base game imo.

any chance u might be up for adding an additional tool button to Hold Construction?
so we click the tool to select an area to put on hold, rather than individual tiles/buildings? :)
like the saving/loading of on hold status, it's not necessary but it would be cool hehe

I tried to re-create the crash and errors. However, I was unable to get it to crash.
But, I can tell that the game behavior is not as this mod describes and not as intended.

For one thing, despite how the tooltip for Deconstruct says that holding {Alt} key while clicking the {left mouse button} will "Hold" the materials for later, it does not work as described, only functioning like a normal Deconstruct (as it would without the mod). Similarly, despite the tooltip for constructing tiles claiming that holding the {Alt] while clicking {left mouse} will "Hold" construction, it does not do that and dupes will build as soon as the materials are delivered.

Also, I can confirm what Fennel Fetish reported:
Quote, "when I set 'recover resources' on the 2nd tile I was deconstructing, it changed the setting for the 1st tile."
Though, there was one time when, instead of changing the setting/icon of the 1st tile, it changed the setting of the 2nd (when I tried to change the 1st tile).

I also just had a crash after trying to deconstruct multiple tiles and "recover resources" on them.
(not sure how the setting is called, but I was trying to keep the resources in the tile after deconstruction)
IIRC, when I set "recover resources" on the 2nd tile I was deconstructing, it changed the setting for the 1st tile.

i have never tried it on deconstruction, but on construction it appears to work fine for multiple objects. not sure what is going on there.

Selecting an object to be deconstructed and selecting "hold materials i unfinished construction" more often than not causes the game to crash. Seems it works fine if you do it once to one object, but after that it seems hit or miss and trying two at the same time seems to be an assured crash.

Yesterday I tried new beta update and it is crashing when I mark something "on hold" or "keep resources". I know it is beta and you probably won't support it yet, but since then it crashed on me few times without beta update.
Also, there is something wrong when using it with other mods (probably "ChainedDeconstruction" but Im not sure1) - I can mark some tiles as "keep resources" but looks like some others just sharing this option (some I can't even mark and some are unchecking the tile I marked before).It worked fine before latest Major Game Update I think.
I can show you some examples if you would like to take a look at this :)

When this mod is combined with Blue Prints, it makes large saved builds WAAAAAY EASIER to manage and complete without forgetting or erasing anything. I Love it :steamhappy::steamthumbsup:

Instead of a new feature specific to this mod, perhaps just adding this mod to the "drag-to-apply-settings" mod? A collaboration, perhaps?

Also, do you have a GitHub account? You should upload the source, and add a link to the description here. Way better way to track issues, get contributions, etc. Anyway, here's a crash-to-desktop I just got when using the normal deconstruct tool on a tile:

Id like to be able to bind this to a key. like hit shift+H -> click tile to hold construction on that tile. then alt+H to finish. Or it could be just H to toggle hold/finish, and some sort of indicator. Not sure if it's possible to add in a "new tool" like that...

@RedstoneParadox - I'm working on that! It requires going a bit deeper into the code, though, which means more opportunity for bugs to creep in. Last thing I want is to ruin a mod that a bunch of people (myself included!) find really useful, though, so it may still be a bit longer!

This has been really useful so far; I would like to see the hold construction button added to the building planning screen so you can press it once then place down a bunch of tiles/pipes/buildings/whatever without having to manually set the option on each of them.

@CCTV250, thank you for the translation! I've thrown the translation template up at https://gist.github.com/dmchurch/cc81d0b2359b6dad1c4a713a76b79100 - you can play around with that while I work on figuring out how to get default translations into the mod. You might even be able to use this to translate the current version of the mod? I'm not totally sure how ONI's localization framework works, yet.

@ruffryders_007, I'd thought about that - my idea was to use Ctrl as a modifier to do a held construction or deconstruction, since Shift is already used to constrain to straight lines. I got a little lost in the weeds when I was working on figuring out how the input/tool/action system works internally, though, which is why it's not in this release. I'll take another crack at it, though!

Does exactly what it says on the tin.

This is already so useful. I no longer have to deal with materials falling into some unreachable spot in a complex structure anymore. Break in, do the work, get out, and put the walls back in place.

I'm not big on mods that change the base functionality of the game, this one doesn't feel like cheating at all. It is splitting up standard tasks that duplicants already do into a more granular way. Very good quality of life improvement.

Been playing around with it for about an hour. Great mod. Should be included in the base game. Maybe as a later research or late skill. Anyhoo, The only thing I wish this mod included was a drag function. Batch Hold Contruction, if you will. Everything else is perfect. Does exactly as advertised. Good job, and great idea.
