1. Do you think you could code it so, instead of replacing armor, it's its own separate system/entity?
2. Make it a bit more customization. Make it so players can edit how their shields look visually when they are attacked / when the shield is regenerating, different patterns, maybe even more sounds.
3. A visual border effect for when your shields are damaged, as well as the electric particles that emit when your shield is broken to be the same color as your custom shield.
Other than those suggestions, this is simply a great mod.
