I don't know why you thought it wouldn't be compatible with TFA, but yes, it is.

Sadly, due to the nature of how addons in GMod do things when events happen (like when rendering is performed), an addon that tries to be compatible with other addons when paired with an addon that doesn't (or doesn't try enough) will still not work.
In a nutshell:
Sometimes, an addon that modifies values (a "compatible" addon) will do its thing after another addon that overrides values (an "incompatible" addon) does. This works, and there are no issues. In other cases, however, the only-modified values are instead overridden by other addons.
There may not be any fixes for this.
