I've also just published "New Game Stash 2" so you can try that instead if this doesn't work.

I just tested and this mods appears to still be working. The chest still shows up outside of the starter town (see image for location). I'm not sure why it isn't showing up for some.

This helps with replays and different builds. I'd probably have thrown in a Potion of Oblivion in as well, since many of us still have to get used to optimal skill builds.
