There were quite a few puzzles I had to skip during play, though. The space invaders game would not finish, despite the shots moving right through the last alien. For the painting puzzle in the final room, the dials were very fiddly and I couldn't see a way to make them line up for the image shown. I didn't understand the pot/clock puzzle. For the matchstick puzzle I was unable to see what I was doing, as the cursor and matches disappeared on the bright surface (maybe due to the graphics settings?) and the reset button didn't seem to work.
The puzzles presented here are excessively predictable, often necessitating only the most obvious solutions. It's disappointing how little depth or challenge they offer, leaving little room for real satisfaction in solving them.
Combined with the mundane layout, this results in a rather dull experience overall.
I would advise making a backup of your mod somewhere other than for the Steam Workshop. Nintendo has been going after several Workshop addons with nintendo Content on various workshops. The Gmod one is particularly famous but they also went after Fraymakers, some TF2 maps, and some SFM addons.
You clearly put a lot of effort into the sound and music of this game but I had to keep it muted because of that damn siren.
It's a shame because otherwise this is a truly ingenious and creative map; I just can't recommend it if it's physically painful to play.
Sorry
Congrats on your second-place finish in the Build-a-room #2 contest . Nobody was going to beat The Ominous Obelisk, but nobody else was going to beat you haha. <3 Franch
J'ai adoré !
grüße vom Gemüse Chris =)
The only thing that didn't work so well for me was the alien shooter. For one thing, I got the button stuck, even in single player - but unsticking it worked, so that was no biggie. My real issue was that I found no position from which I could properly use the controls and see the screen. That felt really unwieldy.
But that issue is so miniscule compared to how amazed I am at what you made possible. This is easily the best of the submissions I have played, my personal first place without having to think twice. Again: WOW!
I know there have been some issues with buttons in multiplayer, I've implemented the following workarounds:
- There is now an "unstick" button on the Space Invaders map if the buttons get locked up when two people press buttons at once.
- On The Sims map, the wallet should be full/you should always be able to buy the door as long as all items have been sold
Otherwise though, really good and as someone who loves The Room games, I really enjoyed the final room - you did a great job with it! .
Great work!
I did have some bugs in multiplayer with the Space Invaders and The Sims rooms , with buttons not working and triggering anything. But thankfully you had skip buttons to let us get over those parts.
