The logic behind this mod is somewhat flawed. Robots, to the extent and nature of 'SPARK' robots, would be run by an AI or tactical, strategic combat. Simple pre-determined programming would lack the predictive power to function as anything more than a mobile, automatic turret.
Naturally, it make sense for an AI to 'progress' as it absorbs more information from direct combat experience. The static, 'no promotion' concept, is a highly outdated and hopefully redundant view of higher-functioning robots.

For anyone running LWOTC; once you unlock the correct project in the Proving Ground, completing it costs 10 alloys and 10 elerium, and will yield you one random module of that tier.

I have never tried running this without LWOTC so I'm unaware if that is intended.

Hey, just popping back to report that I've got the build Spark project to appear in the PG. Turns out it was an easy fix, all I had to do was use my bloody eyes. It was buried under a mountain of other projects added by a bridge mod for Weapon and Item overhaul attachment projects.

Apologies for wasting your time, and thanks for all of your mods h4ilstOrm, they're all must haves imo.

All vanilla projects should exist; this mod does not touch those.

It's possible it's PG overhaul, that mod changes how the projects are handled, in the sense that once you've researched one, the resulting item becomes available to build in Engineering. It's hard to confirm whether the issue occurs without the DLC mission enabled since I just finished that mission in my current campaign.

I received the Spark reward, and the module projects are all present, as well as the companion module mods that were made to accompany this one. Just no repeatable build spark project. I don't run any other spark related mods, or any lost tower mods.

It's possible that I'm misunderstanding this mod, though. Do you only get the rebuild spark once you've lost one? Or is there supposed to be a repeatable build spark project like in vanilla etc?

PG overhaul maybe? This mod doesn't change how you get sparks. It only adds a project to rebuild one for cheaper if you lose one in combat.
Do you run any other spark or lost tower related mods?

This could possibly be a daft question but I'm not seeing PG projects to build more SPARKs. I've just completed the Lost Towers mission, got my first SPARK, and everything seems to be fine, modules and all, just no projects to build more of them. I'm running Mec Troopers, PG overhaul and Spark Arsenal, I doubt these are conflicting but I do wonder what the cause could be.

One of my fav mods. London Monitor is phenomenal. I wish the Carbon Reflex Nerves heavy weapon from honey's hot heavy items which simply increases overwatch aim did the same thing for humans. You did your thing here buddy. Thank you!

Hi, I really enjoyed my last campaign with Modular Sparks, thanks for making it! Probably my favourite interpretation of the class.

There's one change I'd love to see if you have time for it, which is to add an equip sound to the modules. Right now switching between the equipped modules in the barracks is completely silent, which feels a bit strange!

With this setup SPARKs shouldn't need promotions, you just need to get better gear and equip them correctly.

I love robots! Playing this in LWOTC and so far everything is working great. Although, it may need some balancing for LWOTC as these sparks are better then their organic companions in almost every way. Hopefully ModJam will incorporate it next.

I'm trying to figure out how to add the target painter module to the list of holotarget abilities that work with the lockon rocket in Iridar's Rocket Launcher mod, but I'm having trouble figuring it out. I thought I found the ability name (MSA_PaintTarget) and copied the template in their config, but it seems that is not the correct name. I am not 100% sure, but I think it needs to be the name of the effect that is applied to the enemy as opposed to the name of the ability that the module grants, and I don't know how to find that.

there is nothing to handle? The new equipment all comes from Proving Grounds projects like special ammo and grenades in vanilla.

Came back to the game after a long time, when i get my first spark, no modules are given or equipped, tried reinstalling the mod, still nothing, any ideas? The slots appear, and the mod is checked on 2k launcher

This mod only affect the normal spark class and clears out all the promotion ranks there. I've heard moderate success with running this alongside of other spark classes, but it is neither supported nor balanced.

this shouldn't change anything about the story mission spark as its internally a different unit, but I haven't actually tried it out. please do report back if you do.

Sounds like the issue caused when using a mod that blocks Highlander Slots .. iirc the most common culprit is the "Vest and Ammo Slots mod"

Im away from my PC for xmas but the mods listed shouldn't cause issues I don't think. Could you share some screenshots, the "yellowed out" is of particular interest. I've not done any way to disable them, you just have or don't have them

Running this with Augmentations, CI, Spark Arsenal. However, the additional slots do not show up in loadout, and on Squad Deployment show as yellowed out and when I click on it it only changes the "spark armor" category instead.

The slots are not configurable and are only added to the default spark character and changing that will require some scripting magic, though it should be quite simple.

If I wanted to add these items to other units how would I go about that? I want to let SHIVs use these items, but I'm not sure how to add the slots looking at the inis from this mod.

Adressing the LWOTC compatibility, it is in fact semi-compatible in my run, all the features in this mod are functioning.

However, a major issue is that this mod doesn't remove the skill tree of the SPARK, in fact, it only changes the spark's rank to only Squire. It seems that this is only a visual bug, but the idea of a modular SPARK that can learn new tricks is kinda funny XD

Long Story Short - you can use this mod in LWOTC, but it's gonna be either stupendously broken and funny XD

Sorry, I meant to ask about the SPARK modules. Like the PG project for an experimental Spark module, how would use the console to give myself the additional SPARK modules that this mod provides at tier 2, tier 3 etc? I looked in the localization file in the mod folder and I couldn't find anything titled X2TechTemplate.
