Currently revealing area does not consider material type at all, and it reveals in all directions equally. There are exceptions like Points Of Interest (ex. neural vascisomething) that must be considered also and not revealed.
There is also a problem that you had to assign something like "visibility blocking ratio" for every material. And finally radiation is slowly decaying and getting weaker and weaker and you cannot reveal a tile partially so it would have to be done differently. We are talking about rewriting whole revealing system.
And now consider that all this mod does is just changing one variable in already working system :)

In addition, it would be great if the sight radius would increase per excacation attribute level?
I would have had a SNI level of sight, and then allowed for building of a couple types of sonar/radar to scan and get more "sight".
