I don't think we put scopes on them much. Spain wasn't in WW1 so we didn't get to learn the importance of designated marksmen and snipers, and in the Civil War scopes were rare just due to how expensive they were

And also, one of the most ironic thing about the Krag Jorgensen as my opinion

In a 1944 movie "The Fighting Seabees", Some Japanese troops in the movie can be seen with Krags probably so the Krag rifle won't be considered as a forgotten weapon. This could actually make sense as the Filipinos in WW2 did in fact use a Krag variant as aformentioned M1899 Constabulary Carbine (Altough the Krag in the movie is just a original American M1896), the Japanese could have capture the Carbines when Philippines fell but that would be extremely rare

They would've had a few Mauser 1893s captured during the 1898 war, but i don't know if they would've kept them in storage for 50 years in usable condition. Either way it is actually plausible that some would've been used as you said

In WW2 List of Weapons in Wikipedia, before it got removed from the list, it was said that Spanish Mauser rifles were also used by Filipinos in WW2. That seems questionable but still according to the Weapon list, Filipinos did in fact use Americans weapons from the Philippine-American War such as the M1899 Constabulary Carbine (A type of Krag Jorgensen which was built for use in Philippines) and M1895 Colt-Browning machine gun.
