How do you actually climb the ladders?

When placing a ladder, and/or in pickup/place/rotate/disassemble mode with ladder selected, or after placing ladder and in said menu, game freezes/stutters until out of said menu, climbing works fine. anybody else having this problem?

Do I have to reset my world for this to work?

Sadly, it can be installed under the roof, but it doesn't work.

i just said i made some floor for these ladders and it didnt work still.

@Red: I didn't code it because there's no floor to climb up to. Maybe visually you see some kind of floor, but in the game files it's not something you can walk on.

it doesnt regonise as ladders i even made some wooden flooring.

Instead of using the ladder on the wall I built to climb to the top my character jumps over. Does the mod not add a space at the top for you to stand on the same way the vanilla game does with stairs?

Like the commenters before me, I could climb up ladders but not always climb down. Thanks to Astratic for the tip : destroying the "invisible wall" above the ladder worked... but it does require a sledgehammer, so don't climb a ladder before you have one, at least for the moment.

There are no screwdrivers in the recipe. Why does the wooden ladder need screws? Nails and screws should serve a similar function. If a hammer and nails are used, screws should not be necessary.

if you're having an issue when you get to the top of the ladder, just hold whatever your vault key is to climb over the invisible wall, i can't guarantee it'll work but it did for me.

got to top of ladder n just kept climbing could only got back down but surrounded relogged n fell n died dont think this ones for me

I think I discovered a half-bug. Some buildings (ie the map itself being the issue) have a low wall at the top of the ladder- although not being readily visible due to rounding out the top fence structures, there is something you can destroy at the top of the ladder (accessed the roof via stairs). Once destroyed, I was able to use the ladder from top and bottom. I believe that this is similar to Manwich's issue, and is a oversight built into the map (as sheet rope starts from the low fence). Found this out at Riverside's post office.

i.e. Some buildings in the map have an "invisible" short wall at the top of ladders that prevent climbing onto flat roof. Perhaps remedy by somehow allowing a short wall phase through/fence jump at the top of the ladders?

Still works for me. Just not sheet ropes which is fine for me. I use collapsible ladders with this. Needs an update though still.

Pretty much none of the ladders are working for me. Muldraugh warehouses for example (B42)

Can only get onto ladder from the ground, and get off the ladder at the ground.

But cannot do anything at the top of the ladder (can't get on or get off)

Currently bugged with sheet ropes in b42.10.0. As wel, exactly same issue with Entrum.

Just fyi some maps dont work properly. Probably the minority but they exist nevertheless.

Just want to say that I'm on 42.10 and I use this still whether it bugs sheet ropes or not. I don't even use sheet ropes though with this mod and collapsible ladders combined, there's no need unless I need a quick escape from somewhere other than my base. But I'm pretty sure that still works. I havn't experienced any problems climbing any ladders like some others have reported except for certain mod maps with their own ladders. But about half of the map mods I have with ladders do work. I assumed the ones that don't work are just textures rather than functional ladders. If anyone has trouble climbing down, I hold down the interact button rather than a single press and it works. Thanks for the mod!

Currently bugged with sheet ropes in b42.9.0. Sometimes replaces the sheet rope climbing animation with the ladder one, blocks climbing up if there is a window with barricades in front of it, creates an invisible short fence in front of doors and also blocks climbing up

For some reason, when this is on, climbing a sheet rope up the 2nd floor (south-west facing ones) of echo creeks diner just doesn't work.

It's probably because there's a roof overhang (which someone below mentioned) however this comes with the building and all the other windows also have the roof overhang (yes even the bathroom and bedroom one).

Trust me to pick the 1 new building that has only roof overhanging windows XD

Iron ladders (School building roof for example) don't seem to be climbable by using the interaction button.

Same issue as nullvariable.

north facing ladders work fine for up/down, but west facing ladders are broken (B42.8.1). My character wants to walk around and try to vault through a wall etc from the north when trying to go down west facing ladders

Is it just me, or does this mod only support upward climbing and not downward?

Turns out it just wasn't enabled for some reason. Whatever lol, it works fine now

I can slide down fire station poles with this, right? I can't quite find the spot where activating it does anything

*EDIT: So after some testing, it seems that if there is a roof overhang above the spot where the ladder goes, you are blocked from being able to use the ladder. Looks like it is working now as long as I make sure there is no roof overhang above it and it will not work with windows. Would love it there was a way to add the functionality so the mod would work with windows.
