@DudeChris33: You talk about realism yet do not know that the real Yellow River is not navigable at that location due to the presence of Hukou Waterfall, which is represented by the Giant's Causeway, as already mentioned in the description above, and which I shall copy for you here:

True Start Locations:
All the official civs, city states and natural wonders are placed at their real world location (apart from the Giant's Causeway which represents the Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River).

Playing as Yongle rn and for some reason the giants causeway is in the river east of my start?

Will there be a patch for the Rulers of China pack? I get a null start when trying to play as Wu Zetian, Yongle, or Qin Unifier. I love playing this map so much it's amazing so I definitely would like to use the new leaders :)

Hi Saph;

I having a bit of an issue with the Crossroad of Empires/Cradle of Civilizations Maps.

I'd dearly love to play either of these maps, however my mods list won't allow me to enable them. I have had this problem with a couple of your other map mods. I was wondering if you could tell me what I'm doing wrong! I would LOVE to be able to play those maps. Thank you in advance for your time/help!

@mar_sko: There are rivers. You can see them in the screenshots above.

What I guess you have done is restarting the map, which skips certain parts of the YnAMP map generation process, including the placement of rivers. So don't restart a map.

@优秀的人: What are Trailblazers? Anyway if no unit is showing up, it usually means you have selected a civ with no TSL on this map. What civ did you choose?

I had a great game on this map as Kubla (China). I also used the Historic speed mod which stretched the game out without letting the AI civs get ahead in science. I needed the time just to explore this map, ended up winning with a diplo victory.

I followed them perfectly (althouhg not sure what happened with Kongo - maybe somehow missed something that time). I've removed some extra resource mods and seems now to be working. I think it was getting stuck on the Duel map that the database uses so maybe just set that to Huge and could prevent some hang-ups with other mods.


I've turned off some of the extra resource mods and seems to be working better now. Got Genghis randomly and I like how far he started from Horses so have to start out somewhat nomadic/herding.

@dwarner: I've tested the map after your first comment and it works fine. This mod only contains the Huge map, so it is literally impossible for the small map to apppear unless you select the wrong map.

And Kongo does not have a TSL on this map.

Please read and follow the set-up instructions above. There is a list of TSL civs. And after you load database you have to select this map in order to play on it.

If this map still does not load, I recommend you unsubscribe both YnAMP and this mod and resubscribe again to make sure you have the right and latest mod files.

No, I have that map and it did load the Huge Map once (without units and Kongo as my Civ) but anything else I try it forces it into small with no other Civs on map (or maybe Duel).

@dwarner: I think you have selected the wrong map on the map selection screen. This huge map is called "Saph's Silk Road: Crossroads of Empires", while the small maps are "Saph's Silk Road: Alexander's Path/The Occident/The Orient".

When I load database then go to create game it loads the small size version rather than the Huge.

@civisterra: I agree. This is not the map for Egypt. After all, Egypt was not a major part of the historical Silk Road. Anyhow, floodplains are randomly generated each time you create a new game with this map.

Hey Skylar, great map really, but how can we make sure that Nile delta has lots floodplains that can flood? Otherwise Egypt is quite disadvantegous...

@Garagos: "Converting" means building a whole new map, which I probably don't have the time to do, but I can relatively easily trim off the left and the right and a bit of the top of this map to make it a Large map. Alternatively you can try Alexander's Path , which is a Small-sized map cropped from the centre of this Huge map.

@Jim: Yes, that's what happens when you have more city states selected than city states slots available. If you have more slots than city states selected, city states converted from barbarian camps will be bugged.

Ok thanks. The barb camps weren't bugged, just said can't convert, no city states available, so doesn't break, you can still interact with them they will just never convert

@Barely Competent Jim: I don't think what you want is possible on a YnAMP map. If you set "Civilization Placement" to "True Starting Location" during set-up, the city states converted from barbarian camps will be bugged and cannot be interacted with. The only way to have city states from barbarian camps is to disable TSL.

I'm a little confused by the city state options. I want to play with barbarian clans mode, so ideally start with the tsl city states on the map but allow the others to be created later in the game.

Is one of the options suitable for that or should I just do it like a normal game?

@Skylar Saphyr You were right, it was a problem with one of my mods, though I'm unsure which. Sorry to bother you.

If you're up for it, I have some more Gedemo city state placement suggestions:

Troy, Knossos (Crete), Kition (Cyprus), Firozkoh (Afghanistan), Gonur Depe (Turkmenistan), Hatra (north Iraq), Susa (west Iran), Urkesh (Syria), Xingqing (north China), Dali (south China), Pagan and Tagaung (X Burma), Qal'at Al-Bahrain (north Arabia), Qabala (Azerbaijan) Argedava (Romania), Avar Ring (above Italy), Varna (Bulgaria), and Ferrara, Urbino, Holy See (X Vatican City), Siena, Lucca, Mantova, and Milano in Italy.

I appreciate this is quite a few, they're just suggestions, but I think they would really tie this mammoth of a map together! Really appreciate your work!

This map is so sick, started up a game with almost every civ (no Alexander or Suleiman, playing Basil and wanted some room), time for the ultimate conquest
