Open your inventory. Click "Enter" to open chat panel. Hold on "Alt" and click an item in your inventory to add its icon to the chat. Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C to copy it. Then paste it to your chest's name.

Updated. It should work well with the newest tModLoader 1.4 now.

It's very handy. I wish it displayed as an icon under the map instead of just in an arbitrary place.

Showing chest info is a bit of a cheat because it lets you know if the chest is a mimic. It should only show for player-placed chests. Also the name is very big.
