I wouldn't have any idea what the differences would be, but if it just accepts mdl and vtf files you could download the Gamebanana release and import the files manually.
There might perhaps also be a problem with the VGUI (to change the profile icon to hei) that's causing the problem, if the octodad skin also changes the VGUI of the player then that's the problem. If indeed this is the problem then download the version from the Gamebanana link posted in the description.
Unless it's the same character it shouldn't cause any problems.
We could but we won't as we don't revisit anime after a set or item is done.
I don't know, but I'm not going to make him.
Not really no.
Bringing over a 2D anime character to a realistic 3D environment isn't just copy pasting everything you see, you need to take human anatomy in consideration combined with various other measurements that fit the L4D2 character(s) in this case Nick.
Even though without all that in consideration I do need to say that the final result was pretty decent, we were going for a realistic version and not an exact copy and well in the end it ain't bad and does resemble Hei quite a lot if he'd have a live action movie I'd say.
Like said it's most likely the closecaption_english.txt that conflicts which results in changing the in-game name (I'm repeating myself to be honest - just read my post below).
If that addon edits the closecaption_english.txt then that might be the cause of the conflict, this can't be automatically changed as this txt file is needed to change the name of the character. The best thing I can suggest is to download the Gamebanana version then extract the VPK and either modify so both names are present or to simply remove it and repack the VPK.
We were planning to do this but no one was interested to voice it, that plus that redubbing every line of text of Nick just would be insane to do on a free basis... if you're willingly to commission this I'm sure I'll be able to find someone for your request but if not your request is just absurd...
Note that this is a collaborated release, the model was created by Corvalho which is a great 3D artist so you might better ask him for it: http://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/id/corvalho
I mostly do weapon projects but as there was a player model contest I decided to take on some organic texturing for once. So yea if you're in need of any custom weapons/items/props feel free to contact me but if you want some great quality player models or other organic models then ask Corvalho :)
The first 3 are the 4K version and the second 3 are Corvalho's version (I couldn't be bothered to take the 2K version) on the official Gamebanana release. Note that only the coat is different the mask, head, hair are all the same in each release the difference only lays in the coat size and version.
The mask is correct however, Hei's mask is mostly see with a smile even in the anime/manga:

Straight: https://warosu.org/data/cgl/img/0075/14/1398229231743.jpg
It's mostly how the animators cared on how much effort they wanted to put into it, reading the manga now it also differs almost every frame just like the shape of his dagger...
Like with screen resolution this would be with texture resolution 2K coming in at 2048x2048 and 4K at 4096x4096 this of course means that the 4K version has a more high quality set of textures and shaders but affects performance.
Corvalho's version is a complete different texture set created by the modeler with various changes made by me.
You can find some more screenshots on the Gamebanana release.
You're welcome.
Nick
