I was working on it a while ago, and then decided to finally upload it, but I guess I wasn't done lol.
I did put in a quick normal airlock but haven't updated it. I might do something a bit more fancy on the weekend.
There's a lot of really creative and good ideas here, but bots and creativity don't tend to mix well, sadly.
I like the fabricator room setup, and the motion detectors linked to the guns. The built-in mineral scanner is cool, but you can buy that function as an upgrade to your basic sonar now. Still neat to have it. The weapon holders keeping the diving masks in the ballasts and the IV drip in medical won't hold non-weapons, so the items just drop to the floor.
Played some more with it, bots have a hard time with a lot of the sub. They can't access the garbage chute to repair the doors unless you keep it open. Front Ballast ladder waypoints sometimes lead to them missing the jump back up to command and looping. Plenty of places they can't seal. Bots are dumb of course, but they're having a lot of trouble.
Ballast flora systems are a meta thing. You either build one in or you don't, but you don't need to have one. It takes a lot of the challenge/interest out of the event if you add one, so you as the designer decide if that's something that fits your vision for the sub.
Bots have trouble with some spots though. They can't seem to repair the docking hatch, for one. They climb the ladder to reach it, then wobble there forever. The cargo room (next to the O2 generator), the front ballast, and the prison cell all have sections of hull that bots mostly just ignore or can't reach, so they'll consider the Repair Leak job "done" even though it's still flooding.
I've been wanting to change the airlock to one that will fill with water before the outer door opens, and drain the water before the inner one closes.
No problem. It's not a huge deal but it would just be less of a worry overall. Thanks for the answer though !
Thanks for the info. I might be able to something with with the ballast one. Maybe the engine too, but no promises.
To add to what Wakka Wakka said, the bots seems to also have trouble repairing the hull in two places (they'll go back and forth until you move in to repair the hull yourself)
1) The first one is simply the top hull in the engine room. They are unable to repair it for some reason. They'll also try to repair the artifact holder from the inside of the sub with the same back-and-forth confused manoeuver.
2) The second spot is in the bottom right ballast. They'll try to repair the lower hull or the outside layer on the front and will fail miserably. Though they don't stick around for long. They'll simply give up and move on instead.
The last problem is not tied directly to the reparation but the bots loooove to try and repair hull breaches in the brig, which leads to them dying due to water pressure for some reason. (not sure what's up with that)
Hopefully you can figure out those problems. Otherwise, your sub is pretty dope ! I've been loving it so far.
In terms of more gun I think its just more for the harder difficulty campaign/mods, as an option, it would for sure be overkill in vanilla
If I didn't have the same knowledge as a leather boot on how to make subs I'd try and add one myself but this thing already power cuts and I'm not a qualified electrician so until it sinks I'm using it
This is actually my sixth version of the Plonker. Three and Four had an extra gun, but I felt it was too much. Maybe I'll experiment with gun placement in the future.
Brings me to my next point..
Any chance of more gun?(Plonker 2.0) This is holding up close to comfort in zone 2 Into the Abyss but I just love it so much I don't want another sub
