Oh, and I know how you feel about updating headache .. I tried to update my own modular concept, the "Space Train" today. I added connectors to the existing mergers to create a working conveyor network over the entire train. But for some reason I can't merge AND connect. If I merge, I can't connect the connector even though they are perfectly positioned. If use only connectors, the thrusters of the different wagons don't work together because the game still considers them to be different ships.

Great work on the ship and thank you!
While your instructions are succinct and easy to follow, there's still a bewildering amount of information to sort through in the ship-system menus. Things aren't helped by the merge blocks still having the occasional glitch, or by some of the system names - which add even more confusion to such a merger heavy build.
With the new landing gear changes, I would suggest optimizing the gantry such that the ship merely needs to connect to 'docked' components and pull them free from a landing gear with a moderately low 'grip strength' (1 kilo-newton seems to be agreeable for such a powerful thruster arrangement). As for long range transport (aka copy-paste to a new world), the ship is perfectly capable of carrying at least one example of its attachments without issue, and even handles admirably while carrying everything around.
so yeah, great proof of concept here. one bumble bee set can help a whole crew with their station and large ship designs, and focus on getting work done then gutting another respawn ship for parts. nice work!
Love the idea!
