COD devs seem pretty averse to cleaning up after themselves. I distinctly seem to remember COD Ghosts having assets for the COD4 AK-47 plus a few other weapons from the MW series. COD4 itself has assets from COD2 that weren't completely recycled, MW2 has weapon assets from COD4 (as well as the USMC character models if you load up the cut co_hunted level), and MW3 has weapon assets from MW2 *and* COD4. Various games have text strings dating all the way back to the 2003 Call of Duty (apparently, this went on as late as Black Ops II). I could go on...
